Ok if you could build a phone for contractors what features would it have?

Do you need a different phone for field guys v.s say PM's and Owners?

Perfect phone:

Doesn't explode when I drop it.
Isn't effected by dust or liquid.
Screen is unscratchable.
Can handle large amounts of pressure (e.g. I'm lifting something really heavy and it's pressing on my phone that's in my pocket)
Wirelessly connects to my computer and automatically puts the pictures I took that day into a folder I had previously specified.
Always displays my next appointments on the screen.

Nextel gets terrible reception here in the hills. The few that I have seen in the past where the cats-ass though. That one looks pretty nice as well.

I have sold my soul to Sprint with all these BB contracts so I don't think I could change over even if Nextel gets better towers around here. I wish they could cross over on the same towers.

I use the Samsung Rugby. Tough phone. Dust proof, waterproof, dropproof and takes great pics. Also has PTT.

Not a smartphone though, right?

My Blackberry has gone for a swim twice, pulled batteries out quick at left it in the sun for a couple days, worked ok. It's a tough version, no camera, low internet ability. rugged, good for email. Even with the faintest signal I can email, valuable where I work.

I had the same kind of experience - dropped mine in a 6" deep puddle for 2-3 hours until one of the guys found it. Brought it in and put it under the heat gun for 5-10 minutes and it still works as good as new. I am still amazed.

The "rugged" Sanyo that I had prviously would quit working for hours if I got ear sweat on it....what a POS compared to this Black Berry.

I am amazed at how rugged the black berries are myself my hits the ground 3-4 times a day everyday and keep working, doesn't even loose the call

I figured MALCO would have showed up in this thread about 10 posts ago! As far as myself, I'm still using the old Treo. Its a bit of a PITA and is split in half but still chugging along! Thank god I have lots of strapping tape handy!

I found my BB one morning in the driveway, battery out, back cover off, and face down. Rained all night the phone was soaked.

Dried with a hair dryer. Turned it on and it was all wonky and weird.

Turned it off and the next day (after a lot of praying) turned it on again. Good as new.

I just got a Blackberry 8330. Wow, this phone is amazing. Full scale email, documents, web browsing that is full content (like a little baby website), not just the words. This phone is the coolest thing since the hogs ate my little brother.

Cool- can I call you 'Build?
I have a industrial strength Bb that swims, surfs, etc, but lousy web. Does RC work well on it or is there a need for a stripped down version of the site for handhelds or phones. Some sites don't know what google taught us, that clean and simple is good.
