Here are a couple of lesser known ways to save on a new mobile phone.

Amazon has started a new service where you can get a phone cheaper than getting it from the carrier in many cases.
http://wireless.amazon.com/
On the right choose your carrier, and enter your zipcode.
This will show you a list of phones available to you.
Click a phone you are interested in, then on the right select New Contract or Upgrade phone to see the price for each.
The catch - you can't change service plans for 180 days.
Below (attached pic) is the deal I'm considering for my daughter. $49.99 at Verizon - $0.01 at wireless.amazon.com

$50 off at Sprint.com - Go to sprint.com (http://sprint.com/index.html) select a plan, select a phone go through the process. Just before completing the purchase, click cancel. They will offer you a $50 credit for completing the order.

Plans. Sprint just launched an Any Mobile, Anytime. If you're like me most of my calls these days are to mobile numbers. Any mobile you call (regardless of carrier) is free (no minutes used). Couple that with the All Data plan and you can get voice and data for as little as $69.99, not bad.
