And a collie/sheperd mix that has pretty much had both of his ears chewed off fighting strays, his name is Joe.
I would post pics, but you know what a black lab looks like already, and Jos is kinda sensative about the whole ear thing, I have been calling him Pork Rind Ear, so he doesnt like his picture took

My two Korean Jindo dogs.
Hana on the left, meanest little Asian princess biatch on the planet. Another ten seconds pointing the camera at her and she would have lunged. That little smile is a ruse.
Gunner on the right, the doofus boy, not a pure bred Jindo, but a fearless hunter. He once chased a deer over a barbed wire fence up in Kern County.
Both rescued from the LA County shelter system.

Rory, that thing looks more like a ferret than a dog.

For some reason, they think the camera coming out means they are going to get a treat. But the female has a short fuse for that and will try to lunge at it after about 15 seconds. I have to focus fast and get the pic or be ready to deflect the "attack".
Gunner is just a doofus. Eat, crap, chase, and hump. That's his basic list for living.
Kinda like some contractors we know.

Certainly I dont get mistaken for a warm fuzzy person very often. But friday nite on the way to get more beer I stopped to look at pit puppies someone was selling in the parking lot. 5 pathetic looking ones in a laundry basket. A little runt female kept giving me the eye. Theyre all covered in fleas, the little runt with bite marks all over, no way was she gonna make it. Gave $40 for her, took her home and got the fleas off, fed her good. Today I put her on cragslist and sold her an hour later to an 8 year old girl and her mother for $40. :)

Thats a good looking tri-color bitch. We have a tri-color English Shepard working dog named Ol' Shep. He has saved my Dad from being run over by heffers more than once when he was down and hurt. That dog can take a beating and always comes back for more.

They're pretty low key for the most part--but are very protective. Very very good with kids.
Danes are called "gentle giants". They'd rather be inside... laying around on the couch... the bed...
As for guard duty... just the sight of them, and the sound of their bark, is usually enough to keep the riff-raff (and most door to door salesmen) away.
It's quite funny when the little guy comes to deliver Chinese food, and he's greeted by two big heads at eye level.
One guy jumped so far back he ended up on the sidewalk. :laugh3:

I love my dog. I grew up on a farm, if it didnt provide you with food or income, it didnt go to the vet. The livestock vet would give the dogs rabies shots, but thats it.
I've shot many an animal and burried it the woods. Out of experience, dig the hole first. Too hard to do after the fact.
If you fed the barn cats they wouldn't eat the mice.

I just read this and had to post it.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A PET'S TEN COMMANDMENTS..........
1. My life is likely to last 10-15 years. Any separation from you is likely to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me
3. Place your trust in me.. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7.. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you, and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if something might be bothering me. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food, I have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You too, will grow old.
10. On the ultimate difficult journey, go with me please. Never say you can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for me if you are there, because I love you so..
~Take a moment today to thank God for your pets... Enjoy and take good care of them.
Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without God's critters.
~Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We do not have to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and joyfulness. It is here on earth and has four legs!

Dizzy was a stone pain in the ass, and his puppyhood lasted about 12 years.
He was a barker too, when I worked on my friend's house, he would just sit it in the yard and bark at us all day. If you threw anything at him for it he would chew it up and go right on barking.

Barking like that is unusual for a Border Collie, they are known for working sheep with 'the stare.'
We have an Australian Cattle dog. They tend to be very vocal. The thing about the herding dogs is that they were bred to work hard all day, and to be smart and good at problem solving.
If you don't give them a job to do, they go stir crazy.
Kind of like you seem to be, without work to go to.

Kind of like you seem to be, without work to go to.
A good Bodger is a tired Bodger.
I've been barking a lot lately too. :laugh3: Not enough Bodging.

Thinking about picking up a boxer pup :) Not sure yet though. Think it would be cool to have around. I like bulldogs also. I saw a H U G E!! American bulldog tonight at a buddies house.. was awesome!

We have two Jack Russells and an Australian Shepard.
They have three distinctive personalities
One jack is the alpha dog She is also the smallest and rules over the other dogs.
the big Jack is just a big wussie and only wants to lick and be petted nonstop 24/7
The Aussie however is the sweetheart dog. She is a box of rocks actually and chews the bejesus out of anything and everything if she feels slighted or ignored. Funny thing is she is not the most affectionate dog. doesn't seem to care for petting and general affection. She is really funny though when it is time to go out and she is hearding the jacks around.

I hope you rescue one from a shelter as opposed to buying from a breeder. Seems like the purebred pups always find a home, not always the case with the distressed doggies.
I got both of my Jindos from the shelter, they're the best damn dogs anybody could ever ask for. My boy Gunner has proven that he'd put himself between me and trouble without even thinking.
Unfortunately what he thought was trouble one time was actually a Hassidic Rabbi all dressed up on his way to temple one Friday night. I think it was the big chocolate cake hat that did it.

Now you got me feeling bad. I routinely beat my English Shepard's ass for escaping the fenced in yard, pissing on the carpet, jumping all over my little girl and biting her ankles.
