View Full Version : RCA Video out to?

Just got a video scope made by VO scope. It's similar to Milwaukee's scope but it's water proof and has a 72" wand. I had it shipped over night because I wanted to use it to look inside of some walls at a new clients house and not have to tear things up.
This has an RCA Video output, like the kind that you hook up to your DVD player. It turns on and turns off. No software with it, nothing. I find out now they have a "video grabber" attachment for another $200. The tool supplier didn't have that on their site so I didn't know about it.
Any suggestions on how or what to use to record the video? I have no clue. I do have a few camera's and video recorders. Not sure if I can just plug this into it or not. I'd like to just plug it into my computer but I don't think it's that easy with out some sort of software. I'll be near a staples tommorrow so I should be able to buy some adapters or gadgets.

I would think anything with an input and the ability to record.

if its an RCA output you will need a video recorder on site and hooked up to it while your doing the inspection.
There is no way to catcher the video for a later date right??
You would need a recording device that's portable and on site???

You should be able to plug it directly to a recorder and tape the video with out any software needed.
It should recognize the inputted camera as any other camera feed..
I can't think of any obstacles that would prevent a simple hook up and recording of the video source..

I guess a cheap DVD recorder would do it? I was wanting to take still shots more than video, but I guess I could get the camera in position and the turn on the recorder for a second or 2.
Don't ya just love it when you spend $250 on something only to find out you need to spend another $250 to get it to do what you want it to!

No, I just checked them all. The oldest one I have is an 8mm video recorder with no video inputs.

Well, I just ordered the thingy that will hook up the scope to my computer. I can use it as a monitor or take video or snapshots and store it in a file. I'm not meeting with the client again until next week. I should have the thing by then. For now I'll play with the scope and see what I can find with it. Don't see the need to go buy a new DVD recorder for this and don't need another one in the house.
I'm a little surprised with the RCA jack though. It'll be good in the long run. The customer was happy about me not tearing up walls to find the problem. Some contractors were making uneducated guesses along with prices based on that guess.
They liked my approach, we got this part of the work. (yah, we charge for estimates) He He!
