The Paul and RCninja met Pete Mai this week at a Mpls Home Expo. Pete is a cool guy, a self taught cabinet maker and graduate of the School of Hard Knocks and recently the inventor of the Korner King.

Welcome to Remodel Crazy Pete, you'll fit right in.

This is kool, the Korner King.

Leo G

Dealer price....usually 40% lower. At least that is how I buy from my supplier.

Does it include the drawer box?

Silvertree
October 20th, 2009, 07:57 PM
Yes, the tray, drawer box, all the hardware. Just one screw through the center.
Must rest on a crossbar or shelf.

All maple and dovetailed drawer (or birch) , tray is multiply birch plywood.
Finished with a (catalyzed varnish).

I couldn't make them for that.

Leo G
October 20th, 2009, 07:59 PM
Neither could I, who in China makes them?

Silvertree
October 20th, 2009, 08:02 PM
Pete Mai, not Chinese makes them. He is a self taught cabinet maker and does very nice work. Nice unassuming guy. Just came up with the concept this past labor day weekend.

Born and raised in Minnesota, I'm guessing he's German lineage, Mai is the month May in German.
Works out of a 15,000 SF shop outside the Twin Cities.

So, technically I am not a dealer but would be selling to the public as an installed (in my custom cabinets) product. Am I still qualified for the dealer pricing?

Yes. We are mainly selling to cabinetshops & refacing companies

What are your minimum orders? At first I would probably just get one to get the feel of it and to show off.

The one's in the first video are super cool.

I like that better than the double hinged door.

I (and more importantly, my wife) agree with Warner. But both are pretty cool. That's gotta be the best thing to happen to a kitchen since sliced bread.

Good Luck

It's the double hinge door I have the problem with, not the drawers inside it.

I see people swing open those doors and beat the crap out of the other cabinets.

Again, those things are sweet!!:2thumbsup:

I guess its been to long since I had little ones around. The double doors haven't been a problem to us old geezers. I see how it could be an issue. In my cabinet shop we also do just an angled corner. The drawer bank look was well recieved at the home show. What the customer wants , the customer gets. Right.

can you get the cabinet unfaced?? So if I wanted to add it to an existing kitchen I can skin it to match what's there already?

kornerking

all we sell are the modules. They go into your cabinet. Either new or retrofit

Here is the full height corner

If a blind corner shelf runs anywhere between $600-1400 I assume this will run for about the same if not more. By the look of it, I don't think this cabinet is safe for kids, very easy to get caught in it.

No more dangerous than a lazy susan that the door swings around with or a standard drawer that you can slam your fingers in.

My brother and me installed over a few thousand kitchens in the past 25 years and I have never seen a Lazy Susan as one unit being attached to the door and spin with it at the same time. All kitchens that I've seen and installed had the door and a Lazy Susan as a separate unit. Frankly speaking I don't even know a manufacturer who makes such cabinet until I read this post and I deal with quiet a few kitchen Manufacturers.

I have done quite a few of that style. Maybe manufactured cabinets don't but custom can. I have been phasing it out of my line and going towards the bi-fold door that swings out. Much easier to install and no alignment issues.

I still see them in older kitchens, none on the newer than 1960's kitchens.

Greetings, regarding the safety issue. The clearances are similiar to a traditional lazy susan. The module installs like a wood no post lazy susan. In the cabinet with attatched drawer fronts(angle video) the drawer front retracts into the cabinet sufficiently to rotate. As Leo states there is a danger in any moving item. A door or drawer could slam on a hand or finger. In my own installations of the KornerKing I haven't seen any more risk than A lazy susan for pinch points. Not meaning to commercialize this but the combined module 1-single & 1 double drawer sells for $258. I pay 168 for a 2 layer wood lazy susan. Maybe I'm sold on it but in 2 months I haven't had a customer not go this way. A customer in a wheelchair thanked me profusely because she could now get items out to her. Just my insites. I do welcome any feedback negative or positive and will do some more expirimenting on the safety issue.
Thanks
Pete

Let me add, I tried Pete's lazy Susan at the home show in MPLS. Its a smart fix. I tried the drawer and spun the thing round. Solid and useful.

I do not recommend diagonal corners but will install them if my customer wants it.
