COLLIER COUNTY: Collier deputies arrested and charged nine men with submitting bids for home improvements without being properly licensed.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, members of CCSO's Financial Crimes Bureau and other agencies conducted an operation to identify people advertising their services to perform electrical and plumbing work without the required licenses.

It was discovered that some contractors were not properly licensed.
Undercover DBPR inspectors met with some contractors individually to bid on residential electrical and plumbing work.

Each of the contractors provided bids for the requested work.
CCSO deputies arrested them on a charge of contracting without a license, a misdemeanor.

The following nine individuals were issued notices to appear in court and released:

Jirayr Ozboyaci, 63, Fort Myers.

Todd W. Schilling, 35, Naples

Ronnie James Huckabee, 53, Naples

Terrance Michael Rokosh, 45, Golden Gate

John D. Seibold, 59, Lehigh Acres

Dale Scott Samuels, 51, Golden Gate

Paul S. Slavin, 50, 2651 Grand Palm Drive #204, Naples

Douglas E. Synowski, 43, 1997 Clark Court #B, Naples

John Timothy Wortham, 48, 1200 22nd Ave. N., Naples

If you suspect any unlicensed work, you can now dial (239) 252-5607, 24-hours a day.
An investigator will be sent, and the situation will be addressed.

I wish California would take such complaints seriously.

They were just doing the jobs licensed contractors wouldn't do.....

I'm glad they start doing that. Most states came out with the licensing so they have to crack down on "hacks" without them, or the whole licensing dilemma will defeat its purpose. They should be doing this more often to get rid of all of the craig list hacks.

That's wild. I'm a licensed electrical contractor, cost me a couple G's a year to stay that way, I appreciate the sentiment. I've told electrical inspectors about guys working under the radar, don't seem to care that much. In Toronto area, contractors report general sdoing their own wiring, but I've never heard of anything like you're discussing. For the most part, anyone can go into business and renovate, roof, etc.
