Yeah, things have changed a little bit (ok, a lot)...we've got so many more opportunities to get our names out in front of people these days....and also lots of ways to be checked up on you as well (please delete all my posts )

But the basics remain the same, clients have to be able to find you easily and feel they know you somewhat before hiring you.

So far I could care less about this type of stuff. Ihave my own network that seems to keep me pretty busy. So far out of 15 years I have had 2 periods of time that I have been without work. Once was a week and a half long and the other was about 2 months long, and we all know what time period I am referring to.

Other than that I have my previous clients who vouch (rave) about me and my work.

Who I am I? I am LRG WoodCrafting, you ol' fart.

Mines been paid off for 3 or 4 years now. I got a CHFA loan at 8%. Sound high, not really, everyone else was paying 13% at the time. Inflation was insane. The CHFA loan was a GEM loan, Growth Equity Mortgage. Every 2 years a predetermine percentage of my original loan was added onto the mortgage payments. In my case it was $66. My loan started out at about $750 month and ended at about $1200. I was able to pay off the 30 year loan in 17 years because of this.

It was tough as hell at the end, but the little woman and I drove through it. Now we are clear and free of the bank. To bad my monthly shop rent is $1250.

Mine is 9% but only 15 years. I did the math and at 6% over 30 years I'd be paying 50% more in interest!

I'm in the camp of working myself out of debt; not living with debt. So far, so good...

Exposure through expertise is exactly why RemodelQA.com was created. Expert advice fro contractors to home owners on everyday remodeling questions.

Yellow Pages don't work. Craiglist is free but home owners don't trust it much.

The bad seeds of contractors created this mess. Under quote to get jobs and walk when they find trouble. Now contractors blame everyone but their counterparts. Why?

I think if you read through different forums, you'll see legit contractors jumping all over the hacks, whether it be due to not knowing how to price something, shoddy work, no license, etc.

There will always be a lot more hacks than legit guys, because it's way to easy to become a "contractor".

Anyone with a hammer in a truck is only minutes away from being one...presto! It's like magic!

I don't need no stinkin' licensce
I don't need no stinkin' insurance
I don't even have to know how to price the stinkin' work...or how to even do the stinkin' work.

I'm a contractor, by god. :builder2:
