Have you kept track of the lf that went on that house? I'm betting it's about 2-3000 lf.

It's Western Red Ceder and it's for an exterior application.

10,000 LF of 2 x 6" redwood for the siding :surrender: That's no BS. Probably recycled about 5,000 LF of the old stuff on top of that; and that's just the siding.

yup, sounds about right. What about the crown, the one on the right of the first pic? There has to be at least a 1,000 lf of that stuff on there.

Working on some Azek moldings today. Lots of glue ups so II can get a thickness of 1 1/4". I did manage to get some smaller moldings done that are 3/4" x 1". A lot of time goes into these glue ups though!:surrender:

You're not kidding! I was flying high as a kite before I got out of there. Had to go outside a few times to get some fresh air, low VOC my arse!:mad2:

Here's a few others I've done with Azek while I'm on the topic. The base and the rounded cap were both made from Azek at our shop.

Jason,
Does that Azek eat up your moulding heads any faster than wood...let's say oak for example? I've got an industrial moulder but never considered using it on Azek.

Wood is much rougher on the blades that Azek. Don't know about the other brands of PVC.

I bet it's not much fun cleaning up the shavings though

I have everything hooked up to Jet dust collection containers, not a problem at all.

Hmmm no problems with the static cling? Thats cool.

No. I used a router to do the groove in the base you see on the first run; never again! What a mess! The dust collection on the shaper and the molder has an anti static ground wire that runs through it so it's not an issue, goes right in the bag :)

Have I told you how jealous I am of your shop yet? And Leo's and everyone else who has posted them here. I love to break out my tools whenever I can but I'm still working out of my 20' x 20' garage and I've got to let my wife park in half of that so it's a huge hassle to even get to my tool cabinets. I'm dreaming of buying some commercial space once I get my spec built and sold.

Thanks but don't be too jealous, it comes with a pretty big rent bill to pay and with the future looking bleak, I may just be jealous of your garage in the spring time. My lease is up in Dec. but I extended it until April 1. Not sure where it's going to move when that day comes or if I'll be shutting it down.
Hopefully things will line up by then.

Here are a few new ones I ran tonight.
The first one is PVC. It's for a trim piece on the sides of a bottom rail of a balcony. It sits in the snow all winter so they wanted it made of Azek.
The second one is the big glue up I'm doing right now. It's a solid crown that's exactly 6" x 2". Most of the Western red ceder I get in the rough is supposed to be 8/4 but can be as small as 1 3/4 thick! My best option was to glue it up out of 2 pieces of 5/4 stock.
The last pic is the new 5 hp molder. Very nice machine!
