Here's a kids' bath remodel we just finished. Work included new stone floors with glass accent pieces, new shower base and tile, new shower doors, replaced countertop, new plumbing fixtures throughout, installed frame around the existing mirror, and installed new light fixtures.

Much improved.

Did they cope the glass around that liner?

Yeah, when it's the door we have to cope the glass but if it's a stationary panel we always notch out the tile.

Very pretty job -especially the shower.

Is it common in your area to have an open under counter section like that?

Hmmm, I never thought of it as a regional thing before but maybe it is. I always thought of it more as trend of the mid to late 90's and see a lot of it in production homes. I guess the production home guys look at it as they have one less cabinet to buy. I've only lived and worked in the midwest, (in particular Indiana, Ohio, and now Illinois) so I don't know how it relates to the rest of the country but it's been fairly common in those three states.

Rarely do I actually see them used as intended with a chair to sit down and do your makeup. Most of the time people store there garbage cans and scales under there like this family does.

:rolleyes3: Don't even get me started on what I have done for some kids with their own private bathrooms.

These kids here are early grade school age and are very level headed and polite. They may have a nice bathroom but this is an instance were I think they probably deserve it. Everyday when they would come home from school they would always greet me with a big "Hello Mr. B...." before raiding the fridge. Maybe more info than anyone here wanted to know but wow what a nice family to work for.

Great job, I love the tile work!

I can tell you that it's used as intended at my house  a nice cushy chair under there!

Nice design!

Is that jerusalem gold limestone or a beige travertine? It's hard to tell in the pics.

I bid on an extremely similar job last year (kid's bath, door on each end, tub to shower, frame the mirror w/ trim...) Lady decided to hire a tile guy and plumber and GC it herself. I think her husband was the demo crew...I wonder if he knew...

My supplier calls it Latte Classic but basically it's a beige travertine.

Darn fancy bathroom for some kids.

All we had was a horse through and a fire to heat the kettle of water on!!

Makes sense now - I didn't realize it was a kneehole space. It looked too high to me - maybe it's just the pics - but it doesn't look like a 30" counter height. Plus-there's no kneehole drawer or vanity storage around it. So I thought it was more of a frugal trend to save cabinet $$.

The difference between 'latte' and 'beige'? About 6 bucks a foot:grin:

Looks great OG.

Yeah, basically your right, it's a cost saving measure by the builder. This was built by a production builder. My clients didn't want to pay for new cabinets so I just reinstalled the existing.

Looks good!

I was fascinated by the notching in the shower door - never thought of that. Nice tie-in of the vanity lighting over the mirror too. Nice. :)

Ahhh you noticed that. ;) Yeah I thought they matched up with the glass tile pretty well.

Nice job, kids can grow with it.
If that's a Celesta door, I'm impressed.
It amazes me when a plain square one
shows up and fits. :laugh4:

I absolutely love the shower door and the lighting you installed. These kids must feel very privileged to have such a nice bathroom for themselves. Congrats on the nice job you did.

Before remodeling a kid’s bathroom, take some time to think about ways to make it cheerful, functional and safe for your children. Here I am giving one of my ideas on kids bathroom remodeling.
Give a kid’s bathroom a child friendly look. Use bright colors like greens and blues or yellows and oranges in your kid’s bathroom remodeling project. Depending on the age of the child or children who will be using the bath, ask for their input before you make your final décor choices. Also, add fun touches that you kids will enjoy. For example, if you will be installing new tile above the sink or bath, you could let them decorate a couple of the tiles with non-washable paint and install them along with the other tiles.
