I am wondering if anyone has 'partnered' with a non-competing company local to them to be able to share client lists?

Say I partner with a good landscaper who is willing the allow me to pay for a mailer to his client list. He sends it out under his letterhead and suggests that my company would be a good recommendation should they need my type of services. I do the same for him.

This could potentially happen with any type of non-competing business. Pitfalls? Benefits?

Not only is it a good idea and beneficial to the contractor getting referred, but also another opportunity for the referring party contractor to put his favorable foot forward and keep, In Their Face, contact with their previous customer.

The potential pitfall is like any that come with referring someone else. Disclaimers need to be insinuated and a poor job could be disastrous to your companies relationship with the customer if things go awry.

An even better, less costly option, is to start up a combined effort e-mail newsletter, similar to what FootBridge does for their clients and send them out that way, or give the customer an option on which method they prefer to receive the publication in.

The down-side of the e-mail newsletter, is that their is no coffee table shelf life in that method.
