The Historic Bridge known as Crown Point Bridge was destroyed today around 10:00 am. Several months back it was closed down and deemed "unsafe" by NY and VT highway officials. This was the only crossing between the States along this section of Lake Champlain. Plans for a new bridge are underway but it could be a long time before commuters are able to travel as normal in-between the two states.

I hope that the demo contractor followed EPA regulations to prevent the spread of lead dust to the masses. That's going to take one hell of a big hepa vac and a lot of swiffers to clean up that mess!

I heard a report that it will take teams of divers months to clean up the mess.

Since the bridge is historic, to they have to repaint it and match the original lead paint finish?

I saw the demolition on the news. That's gotta be putting a crimp in the commute.
I'll bet that was a fat contract for some demolition outfit. But damn, imagine the liability. Anything that floats downstream or kills an endangered sardine or something is gonna come back to bite.

Yeah, these treehuggers in the PRK would hold things up until the bridge collapsed whilst full of vehicles.
Just in case there was an endangered gnat that might have its habitat swirled up for an hour or two by the demolition.
