I have no idea how to help you but I would love to know what your annual budget is on computers and software. It seems like you get new computers and software programs as often as my daughter goes through diapers.
Don't mind me, I'm just a cheap jealous bastard who would still be using a Gateway Pentium 1 if I could get it to boot.

sounds like something internally isn't connected properly, or the memory has gone bad. Do you hear any beeps as it's starting up?

Yes.. All sound normal.. I think the HD in this one is bad too. Strange it would not let me go to the utility mode

Did it power up and then nothing or did it seem like it was booting up with the hard drive light blinking and making noise?
If if seems like it was booting look at the screen in a well lit area from all angles. If the back light is out you will see things on the screen. If you think it's the screen you can also try hooking it up to an external monitor. (although some need to be switched before they will display externally Fn+4 or something like that)
If that's not it could be anything. Any bad component could hold the system down, Hard drive, memory (usually will beep though), CPU, video all cold keep a system from booting.

If you ain't got no POST you computer is toast.
Usually if you can't get into the setup utility their is something very wrong. The setup utility is the most basic aspect of the computer. It is off of a programmable ROM chip which holds the BIOS. Possible causes are motherboard issues, static electricity was discharged and damaged a chip. or maybe as simple as the battery on the board that holds the CMOS up to date has gone bad and needs to be replaced, but this is unlikely the cause of this issue.

That's a good catch. I had that happen to my computer while I was down at the shore. It eventually fixed itself and hasn't been an issue since. But you could see the images in bright light if you looked just right. I verified mine because I was blindly clicking around on my desktop and hit an icon that had a sound and it played.

Did that the other monitor screen was blank to.. It lights up briefly and if I pull out the HD the system missing reply lights up on the screen

It does beep on start up. But the HDD light does not

Does it have a floppy drive? If so, take out the disk, if not, your hd isn't bootable anymore.
Are you computer cursed?

I would pick it up and rap it on the counter.
I do this with computers and TV's and sometimes it works out.

Never..
I spoke to Len.. I am going to order some parts and do some repairs.. These things are built like tanks, not like the cheap plastic crap they make now..
Comparable equipment would be 2K each

If you've gota usb drive and a flashdrive/usb stick with a gig or more space then download knoppix. It's a linux distro (operating system) that you can run from the drive without installing it. If it runs then you'll know it's a problem with the os that's on it and if it doesn't then it'll likely be a hardware problem.
Full instructions on how to do it here (http://www.pendrivelinux.com/usb-knoppix-510/)
If it boots up from knoppix you can then browse the hard drive and/or take off anything important you have on there.

All my stuff is web based. All I need to do is get online.. The Ajax software that runs on most of them and using google docs..
There is not a lot of processing involved..

Been using an old but solid CF-29 ToughBook (Highway Patrol trade-in) for years. Replaced 1 battery and 2 chargers but that's it. Having a hard case and a handle on this thing makes it handy as hell for traveling.
Like Rory I use it for online surfing only. Google and LogMeIn takes care of everything else - no other programs installed.

Update I broke down and took this tablet to get fixed, suppose to be ready this afternoon. If I get it back I will take some pics and post them..
I love this unit.. I have the earlier version of it as well that the screen detaches from the key board.. I am dropping that one off to be repaired after I pick this one up..
