I got news 2 days ago that one of the masons I have worked behind took his own life. He wasn't a close friend, in fact I've only spoken to him twice. Nonetheless, I've seen him around for the last 25 years and still feel a sense of loss of a comrade. RIP Pete.

Yes, RIP Pete. 21 years ago I tried and failed, cant say that I'm happy or unhappy that I failed. Only can say that since then I have lived balls to the wall. Because I can. I'll eventually get shot down in flames but I wont die easy and I wont die depressed. My father killed himself when I was little, losing him was profoundly brutal. I wont go down like him but I accept that he felt like he had no alternative.

Sorry to hear that. I just wonder sometimes how bad things really are when people do that to themselves. It's unfortunate they don't have the strength to get through the moment and be a stronger person when the dust clears. Very sad.

I thought about it once. I was in my early 20's and lost everything because of drugs and alcohol. At the time it was the easy way out of the hardship I was in. I'm happy I decided against it because I would have missed sooo much. Not soon after I met my wife and we eventually got married and had kids.
I understand the thinking but I just couldn't do it to my family at the time.
I actually haven't thought about that day for at least 10 years now.
