So My partner gave me his old van to drive for our new company for awhile he's got a F350 Truck.

We got one other van lettered so now we got two vans and his 350. I would like to get 2 more vans and probably get the dump truck done before the year is out.

What you guys got?

Just 1 F150, mine.

I'd like to get 1 more for the Millwork shop and put Millwork where this one says General Contracting.

Now, here's a little dumper! These little workhorses are imported used from Japan for off road only in the US, but are streetlegal up here. 4wd, can come as a dump that can carry 900lbs, 660cc motor. No laugh, these are tough little trucks that do in the mountains of japan what E300 stretch vans do here. My son-in-law has one, and an Avalanche, runs that little thing everywhere. You Tube video of Japanese KEI trucks are wild in the mud, over rocks.

I would like to have 3 focusing on remodeling advertising and 2 focusing on handyman work and painting

Those are cool, but I'm sure I'd get a lot of tobacco spit on it round these parts!!

Would I be close to think that truck and trailer graphics are an element of public recognition in conjunction with other forms of advertizing, rather than getting calls right from the advertising. So if Jane doe is shopping for a reno contractor, and her friend mentions your companies, name, she recognizes it and may very well decide to call. Or, if a flyer comes in the mail.
My guess is that calling a number on a vehicle ahead of you in traffic almost never happens. Am I warm? I don't mean to diminish the value of clean and maintained, uniformly lettered trucks; i think that rusting, old, faded lettering says we have all the work we need and good luck at getting a return call.

I'm a firm believer in creating an easy to remember website address and plastering that on your truck. People won't remember your number but they'll remember you site address IMO.

So there could be an argument for making a well thought out URL the most prominent part of your lettering, and fill in the details on your website, along with sample photos and testimonials in your area, directed toward the type of clientele. Our area is strong on referrals, the small but easy to maintain market I go for. however, for almost all of the new arrivals are from Toronto and are used to yellow pages, much higher pricing and respond to corporate images rather a local. They are also very frustrated with trying to find tradesmen to do work, since none of the locals return their calls.

I personally like a very clean corporate look, not confusing or suggesting you are desperate for jobs both big or small. So going with the URL theme, identifies your business and relates to the market that would likely use yellow pages.

Not that I'd hire you guys; do everything myself.... and it might show.

My first reaction was, what's that got to do with lettering; sure shows what you have to live with when you don't get a second opinion on you ad campaign. Or, you could get famous like a guy from Alberta on Letterman whose name was A$$man.

I'm with you guys on this one. It's got to be a joke. I used to own a business called Orisin & Frost Clocksmiths. Had to move our window lettering inside. Damn schoolkids that it was cute to remove one letter.

You really have to think ahead with your mind in the gutter occassionally. If not, what you end up with is NOT about pens.

In the market for our first van for the P.M. Will letter it when we get it located and bought. There are so many 6-8 year old vans around here it's really hard to make a good decision on one. I plan to letter the 3/4 ton to match the van. My biggest hang up on the lettering is:

1. Catchy tag line that is easy to remember
2. Website, Phone Number, or Both

Truck with trailer. Trialer in front of job site, notice take one box on front of trailer. We always ask "how did you here about us" and it's amazing how many people say "we saw the trailer and picked up a flyer".

Van wise, go 03 or newer GM don't go any older with GM because they had a major engine snafu in 99-02.

I would put both number and website on my truck. I would make the site address bigger though if it's easy to remember.

Thanks for the offer, but I'll get 15 here soon enough.

I can't wait to have access to the super duper secret contractor section of the website.
