Finished up the whole house remodel we did in 2009. We were waiting a few months for the wood flooring to dry out after it got wet and swollen before we could refinish the floor and proceed with this last aspect of the project: a custom bench that conceals the radiators.

You can also see the plaster crown and window boxes we did in some of shots.

There's a bit of an oops there in the center waiting for the painters to come through for final touch up on Tuesday. :rolleyes3:

Looks good. Great place to sit on a cold winter day, really warm you up.

Any idea how much heat the bench is going to hold? Also how much shrinkage do you expect from drying out?

They have 2 cats, they had 3 during the bulk of the project but the ancient one, Montana, passed away recently. He was my favorite, he'd hang out with me all day and be covered in sawdust by noon.

I'm a bit nervous about shrinkage because the house is very dry. Everything is back and edge primed and painted and I sprang the 3 panels across the front in pretty tight. Only time will tell.

I don't think the bench will significantly interfere with heating between the steel grills and the reflective insulation I installed behind the radiators.

You'd be surprised at how much heat that will hold it. If you put a small fan on a thermostat in there it will greatly increase the output of the heaters.

Looks good. Nice built in.
