Got this out today from inside a wall that I thought was a cased opening.
We removed some trim from around the opening and saw the track we removed the 1x6 and this was inside the wall still intact..

Nice find!
We were doing a late 1800's house where the wall the pocket door was recessed into was sheeted with a thin paneling and then plastered over. It was pretty bizarre and not withstanding the test of time.
We reframed it on both sides and plastered it. There was plenty of wall thickness to do it right which is what made it so odd.

Nice. Some people really hate pocket doors. You'd think they'd just be satisfied with leaving it open all the time.
(clean off your damn camera, btw.)
