I did a job this week and somehow I ended up with 3 gallons of paint that were suppose to be the same color, but were all slightly off. I already had the majority of the job cut in and didn't realize I had a problem until I had rolled out the living room.
The tints were so close that I couldn't tell what was true but paint from one gallon was noticibly different when put on top of paint from a different gallon. Of course I didn't have a large bucket to mix the three. I got creative and made it come together by using one gallon as a base coat and top coated using paint from the other gallons in different rooms. This was easier then returning the paint.
Shame on me for not checking the tints in the store. Shame on me for not mixing the 3 gallons before applying the paint. This cost me more time and I wasted a second roller cover and trayliner and extra clean up time.
I knew SW had a problem with their tinting equipment just 2 wks ago. They had it repaired, but there can always be problems with tinting.
