Unfortunately with the new RRP rules she is just the first of many fine buildings that will see their demise because the cost of restoration will become prohibitive.

I redid the window on that, right next to the porch.. 4 yrs ago. And a section around the side. It is in Downtown Olathe, KS. It is on the registry and the current owners had to giver her back to the bank. It is currently up for auction. It was a bed and breakfast, and also a place they did wedding receptions and baby showers. SO MUCH detail in that place. That is what I was saying on one of your posts on restoration. That around here the places (painted ladies) and old historic homes are in the hands of people who cannot bring back their beauty. Tooo too sad.

It is a shame! How much land is with it?

This is where I lived in college.
If I had the money I would buy it and restore it.
the best days of my life were spent there.
The house even had it's own natural gas well.
Last I heard it was gutted and rotting away.

Not sure, but it is up for auction as is. It is on the national historic registry though: http://www.olatheks.org/Development/Neighborhoods/HistoricPreservation

Each room had it's own gas space heater. It took me about 6 months to figure out how to work it. had to adjust every day and night depending on how cold it was outside. My room was on the second floor, the window under the awning on the right on the front facade photo.(we rented the second floor as an apartment there were three) two hot babes lived on the third floor and a couple who were the owner of the bar I frequented daily and her significant other who was the local dope dealer lived on the first floor.

Agree. I have one that I'm working on the estimate for right now. Would have more pics, but I forgot my camera. I'm guessing that they will put 25, 30 thousand into it, but it won't be enough to bring back the grandeur, only preserve some of it.
