I emailed the head of our state Lead program to see what state fees apply.

"Will there be additional fees or training required from the State, other than those required by the EPA Lead RRP Rule?"

R4D - Regarding fees, the answer is yes. Our proposed rules currently requires a certification fee of $150.00/year for Certified Renovators and $200.00/year for Certified Renovation Firms. These fees are the same as our current program for Certified Abatement Supervisors and Certified Abatement Firms.

Why we have fees is to pay for the program. We have been told by the USEPA that we will not be getting any additional grant funding to administer the new LBP RRP program and we do not get any funding from the Utah legislature for our LBP program.

We will be evaluating our fees against our actual costs and there is a good possibility that we will be reducing the fees in future years with a possibility of combining the LBP Renovator fee with the LBP Renovation Firm fee so our program looks more like the USEPA program.

We are asking that the renovation and painting community affected by these rules bear with us in the first year so we can effectively launch the program and give us a chance to evaluate actual costs and bring the fees in line with our costs. With this in mind, we are recommending that Certified Renovators and Renovation Firms only apply for one year of certification (even though they could apply for 5 years) so that they will not incur any additional costs while we evaluate our fees.

If Utah takes it over - no fees to the feds

but yeah most of us will be paying through the nose if our states take over

Seems like there will be additional local fees but the state is not taking over unless mis-read Chris' Post?

As I recall she talked to them & they were hoping to take it over, just like Kansas & a few other states
