Rory;

Thanks for the info regarding the setup key. That was another good reminder in the software industry to test, test, test - even the smallest of changes.

I hope your review of ELMS goes well. Please do not hesitate contacting me if you have any questions. Our target market is the small and independent remodeler looking to present a professional image and move away from Excel. We wanted a solution with a one time cost and a lot of functionality.

We do have a larger multi-user system, but have decided to target the Web for the commercial side of things.

This should be interesting having someone involved with web based software here. Hey there, for what it is worth, my company has already been in the space of web-based platforms for over a year now and I welcome the competition. The biggest compliment is seeing that more software companies are gravitating to offering a solution that is right for this industry. I look forward to another player in the arena to validate what I have known for sometime now.

Welcome to the forum Brian. Competition is always a good thing and it will benefit the industry with new innovation and ideas. The industry is large enough for many players and remodelers benefit from multiple choices.

Forums like RC are extremely helpful for vendors like ourselves. We are more in touch with the industry and can provide solutions that focus on real customer benefits as opposed to solutions that focus on technology only.

Scott do you have a target audience for your software??

Who do you think would be the ideal candidate for your product?

We are targeting small to medium sized remodelers who are currently using spreadsheets and are looking for a better way to run their business. ELMS Personal Edition is perfect for these remodeling companies because they can create estimates, understand costs, generate professional specifications, contracts, and reports, and track their customer base, and manage their projects. ELMS is also affordable for most remodeling companies of this size.

The biggest benefit is that remodeling companies get a real understanding of their job costs by using ELMS. I have a customer who is a 40 year veteren in the remodeling industry who alway says:

"If you don't understand your costs - you are going out of business - you just don't know it yet."

What are the tools that are used with in the program track or understand your cost and where the money is going?

How is this feature or tool utilized?

Does your software interface with Quick books?

ELMS uses the concept of tasks and comes packaged with over 2300 tasks in 26 specific task categories ranging from planning & permits to final punch out. Each task specifies the labor cost, material cost, and sub-contract cost for the specified task unit. The user has full control to change any task information in the task database. Remodelers select the necessary tasks required for project specifications and estimates. The sample below shows a specific task under the "Floors" category.

Floor joists - 2x10, 16" o/c material: $2.03, Labor: $1.48 Sub: $0.00 Unit: Foot

The remodeler is responsible for putting in the quantity (i.e 12 joists at 12 feet apiece = 144 ft.) The system will calculate the job cost for this task. The remodeler now knows the costs for material, labor, and sub-contractors for all tasks or even for tasks in specified categories (i.e. electrical, flooring, roofing). ELMS provides customer specification reports, estimate report, and other report that further help define job cost. The contracts are automatically generated from the estimates and specifications.

Does your software interface with Quick books?

ELMS does integrate with Quickbooks.

* The job and lead information can be imported into Quickbooks to set up the initial job .

* Vendor information can be transferred over to Quickbooks

* All estimate information can be imported to Quickbooks. Estimate information is imported at the task category level.

Further job costing can be done at the Quickbooks level using the imported estimate information and Accounts Payable for the specific job.

Welcome Elms, your system might be of interest to me. I've owned a computer for almost a year and a half, dont know how I lived without one and couldnt explain why it took me so long to get one. As you might imagine there is a lot I dont know. I am a small remodeler and I do need to have some sort of system, this pencil and paper thing sucks. Which tablet was that in?

Lets see what the big dogs think of it.

The only thing I notice when installing the download and installing it was the registry code number sent had brackets on the front and end of the code that had to be removed so the code key would be recognized
