OK, it is about 99% done. The last things to do are the toe kicks and the glass in the door. I used the toekick material for the background behind the crown and the glass just came in today.
Today went pretty well. Had one pc of crown we had to take down because of plain stupidity. We put it up and noticed that the right end seemed off. We pulled it down and moved the triangle block up 1/4". It was wrong to do so technically, but it made it look correct so it was the right thing to do. We also noticed that we needed to put up a cherry plywood backer so you couldn't see the wall ceiling joint. We put the crown up and stood back. BIg set of dummies. We forgot to put the backer up. Took the crown down once more and put the backer up and the crown up for the third time. The rest of the day went pretty smooth.
Here are some pics.

They are on vacation now. It sort of pisses me off how they are doing this. I broke the kitchen up into two parts. Uppers and lowers. I did the lowers first so they could get the countertops templated and installed and get their sink, stove and DW installed so they could have a working kitchen.
I come in about a week later to install the uppers and no countertops. They haven't even picked out a company to buy them from let alone the type of stone. They are very price driven on this.
So I broke up the kitchen, did all my setups twice, had more time in the install because of the breakup. I would have done the uppers first, which is standard install protocol for me.
So, apparently the time to get the kitchen installed isn't on their high priority list. And at this point, because of the f'ed up walls I could care less.

Cabinets look great! Myself I'm not real crazy about how the kitchen itself is broken up, but nothing you can do about that.
How did you fasten the upper, corner shelf?

That's a kitchen and a dining area. I assume you mean the beam breaking up the two spaces.
The corner shelf is attached the cabinet by screwing from the inside of the cabinet it is on. Nothing into the wall. Can't have an exposed screw.

Yeah..Thats what I was talking about

I knew you wouldn't want an exposed screw that was why I asked. Also figured you screwed from the inside of the adjoining cabinet. Was wondering of you had some sort of a "trick" to fasten it to the wall also...Something like a keyhole slot or 2.:mad2:

I think 4 screws from the adjoining cabinet should hold it up for a while.
And as for the beam, they had an old knarly looking beam with splits and checks and joint compound on it. They were going to sand it down and stain it to look like the cherry . And then they asked me to stain it. I just laughed and said no thanks. I wouldn't want to be the talk of how crappy it looks for years to come. I suggested wrapping it in cherry to make it look nice instead of hacking it up and having it look like an eye sore for the rest of the kitchens life.
This is the original beam. It would have looked sweet stained to match....NOT

From the pic's it looks as though it doesn't touch the ceiling and it looks to be too close for above cabinet lighting.
I'm not trying to pick it apart, it just caught my eye.
Looks good Leo.
