I have just put together a bunch of astrigal in picture frame form to use as wainscoting panels. I have never done this before. How do you guys hang them on the sheetrock? Nails? Glue? Both? What type of adhesive do you guy like to use? Liquid Nails Power grip or something similar? Never used that before either.

What say you?:laugh3:

Loctite power grab?

Yep, that'll work, it's paintable in case you get some squeeze-out residue on the parts.

Loctite power grab?

The quick grab stuff I may have called it by the wrong name

Hard to see white on white - but if you look closely. Power Grab and only enough pins to hold tight.

I bought that stuff one time and it did not work like I thought it would.

I have never tried it again.

What did you expect? Super glue?

I've used liquid nails paneling adhesive. You put it on one surface, press it onto the wall and then pull it back off. Wait a minute or so and put it back on. Sort of like contact cement at that point. Can't do it that way for moldings because it gets really stringy and they would get stuck everywhere.

Power Grab says right on the tube that it is not a gap filler. Learned this the hardway - should read the tube before using:smash:

I use PowerGrab on any finish application where I might have some adhesive squeeze out from behind the molding.

It's not only paintable but water cleanup is a HUGE plus! It has high initial tack so usually a couple 23 gauge pins as insurance and you're good to go.

What about 2 p-10 or something, or hot glue, or silicone with adhesive?

It seemed to me that the few tubes I bought of the loctite were expired or something. They were just not right. I try to use the PL products now but, everyone must know about them because I know the prices have doubled on a couple of their items over the last few years.

you talking bout just the picture frame trim to the sheetrock.
I call them judges panels...
I dont use glue,
layout the wall,
pinnail all the panels together w/ 1 1/4" pinnails
use 2" pinnails and criss cross into the sheetrock about every 8"s

if the panels ever have to come off the wall when glued than the sheetrock has to be redone.

but I do glue when installing wainscoating

I've used this with good success.

I've also used PL400 in a pinch and never had a problem :laugh3:

Smeared PL400 on thin MDF to make the plain panels on this desk actually :mad2:

I've had this happen too, it's pretty frustrating if you buy a case and the whole thing is shot.
