Interesting concept home. Lots of technologies being fit together.

2 years of planning and design, 2 years of construction--Would hate to see the price tag, but I'd kill to walk through it right now.

Twelve companies comprise a team working to make the home extremely efficient, taking energy from underground as well as the sun to provide power.

High-density foam insulation, engineered wood and innovative lighting controls contribute to efficiencies at a home in the same neighborhood as the one that last December broke the Summit County sale record at $8.29 million.

The price on the intended net zero home has not been released; construction is to be complete by the end of August.

I would be interested to see an energy audit on the place after they get it done and running. See if they get to a true "net-zero", not to judge but to see how affective the systems are.

Hell yeah! That is cool! I want one of these buildings to live in in the future :)

Well I think it would be a long time to come to a net zero. That means after you are done with the home (life expectancy) your power costs will have covered the cost of the homes power requirements. It doesn't mean your power bill is zero each month.

Cool though, really cool.

The definition of "net zero" is based on an annual measure of energy use and carbon emissions

Net 0 is an elusive goal. Not entirely unattainable but difficult, and the holy grail of energy conservation folks.
