I wish I would have taken a before picture, these things were beat.
There were a ton of stains and the dining room had 5 coats of shellac on it.
This was the first time I used a water born finish. I screened after sealer and after each coat. I re-coated after 3 hours.

Nice work.
We use a lot of waterborne finishes here because of strict VOC regulations.
They've really come a long way with these products since they started out.
A lot of the cabinet guys are using waterborne lacquers as well.

Thanks. I wish I could take better pictures though.
The finish actually had a rather pleasant aroma to it.
My back and knees still hurt!!

If you use a polarizing filter you can kill the glare and reflections from a reflective surface.
It also tends to make a sky look bluer by doing the same thing.

In this case I think the reflections look good as they bring out the shine in the floor.

There were some really dark boards mixed in that floor and some that had a lot of burl as well. I always liked the look of red oak floors.

My favorite is when I try to convince a customer to use water based poly and they insist on oil, then bitch about the odor/fumes.

We've had to work a few times at convincing clients that the water based is as good as oil.
The product our guy uses was originally developed for gym floors.

If they're treehuggers, one mention of the VOC and pollution aspects of oil based usually turns them quick. Out here in LA-LA Land, that's just about everybody.
