View Full Version : Is there a way to mark posts?

I think this has been asked before but I can't find it. Many times I see a link, comment, or reference that I would like to refer to again in the future. Trouble is, I never remember which thread it is in, much less what post. Searching only helps if you can remember what caught your attention in the first place. Can we bookmark posts?

Have you tried subscribing to the threads?

I know you can subscribe to it - Thread tools (then you can view all subscribed tools in your profile)
This works great unless you automatically are subscribed to every post you post in
EDIT: Must learn to type faster...

That won't work for what he wants to do.
If you want to mark them, the easy way might be make a document with the link to the thread in it.
I guess they could make a little area in your USER CP called my important threads where you could build up a list. Never seen it on any forum.

Ok, never really messed with subscriptions before. If I saw something in the Random Thought thread, how can I mark a post among that many posts? I may never remember, or find, what I was saving.
Edit: Leo may have the ticket. Thanks. Still doesn't get me to the post I wanted, though.

Click on the post number and it will isolate that singular post.

I wonder if you used the "rate thread" tool and then sorted (look on bottom left) by rating? I know I have a hard time finding an old thread sometimes to. I also set up a "discussion" on my Facebook page where I have been stockpiling links on Lead, but that would not work so well for threads in the restricted areas.

This kind of ties in with the Onenote discussion

I've also noticed that if you right click the post number there is an option to bookmark.

Maybe start a word document and copy and paste to it with a title you can remember.

afkama, (damn, I wish you had a real name, :rolleyes3:), I think you're on to something. I tried to bookmark the post by right clicking the post number. It saves it as numeral (post #) in my favorites. Now I can rename it to something more appropriate and move it to a folder of interest. If I launch that bookmark, it takes me to that post and I can click on the thread description top right to get back to the forum. It does enlarge my bookmarks but a judicious use of folders will help to keep it simple. Thanks.

Check out the new option installed today.
Save Threads as Favorites. Under Thread Tools there is a new option to Add Thread To Favorites.
You can also add just a Post to your Favorites. At the right of the post, next to the post number, there is a new link Add Post To Favorites.
One other type of Favorite is Users. View a members profile click, User Lists >> Add to Favorites.
To view your favorites, go to Your User CP (http://www.remodelcrazy.com/forum/usercp.php) (Control Panel).
This is a new feature and I have not fully tested it. If it causes any un-resolvable issues it will have to be removed. But so far looks pretty good, give it a try.

All the more reason to think this is a brilliant idea.
