So, unless that site is way behind on posting the up to date results, are we looking at mass non-compliance nationwide with this thing?
I have asked over a dozen contractors that I know, all licensed insured guys, some GCs, some sub trades. Not one of them is aware of this or acting on it.

Last update for MA was early March. When I first looked at it back then, it was noted when the last update took place. Now the site has been showing: Last Update-Invalid Date.
So EPA, Where's the 60,000 plus that's going to be ready by Earth Day? :smash:

Good question. I was out walking my dogs this afternoon and saw a crew working on a duplex. Looked like they had just begun the project, scraping and painting both units, inside and out.
Just for grins I asked if the boss was around. Julio was the boss. I asked him if he had heard of the new lead paint containment requirements that will take effect this month. The guy appeared to be licensed, had a CA lic. # on his truck sign.
He had never heard of the RRP or anything lead related.
This will be interesting. I wonder what we'll be saying about this thing a year from now.

What would be even more interesting would be to find out how many checks had been cashed.
Still haven't sent mine in...probably next week or the week after next (I keep saying this). Always seems to be something more important to spend my money on. You know, lights, fuel, insurance, vehicle registration, '09 taxes, tools:rolleyes3:

I'm flat out not doing it until I see if I'm still even going to be a general contractor about two months from now.
Last year I wobbled through doing odds and ends small jobs, working for other contractors, one decent commercial job at a reduced price, and hitting savings.
The way this year is shaping up, it's going to be worse. The last thing I intend to do is spend money jumping through hoops for the EPA.
They would do well to realize that the timing on this RRP thing is about as bad as it gets for some guys.

Well finally our firm is listed on the Epa site after application back in January, and a speed bump in March.
Our application got kicked back in March as we applied for the "two part" certification as we applied for the renovation and then the other activities. The reviewer on march 1st said that we needed to fill in the Region on are form, so we did and sent off the form again.
Last week I was contacted by phone and this reviewer felt that we did not have to apply for "other activities"... we did in the event that we decided to open up a third party testing or risk assesment service, but the reviewer said that this other activity part of the form is for lead abatement companies, and that they would issue a refund, but the bad news was that the refund may take 6 months to preocess. I informed him that I did not mind about the speed of the refund, just approve the firm.
Saw they put us up last night.... now I'm just waiting on my logo

From what I read, most of the companies giving classes are swamped and booked through May.
Of those training firms that are EPA accredited, I think less than half are certified to do so in multiple states. Some areas don't have any training options at all.

I have a potential bathroom remodel that might start next month. Looks like I'm going to be working without a net. I've been sitting on my ass for a year, I'll be damned if I'm going to pass on a job because I can't find someplace to get certified.
Follow the EPA guidelines and take my chances I guess.
