I was cleaning out some old files today and found a photo album of work I did about ten years ago when I was mostly making cabinets and furniture.

Post up on your oldies if you got 'em.

Nice work.
I've tried several times to make it as a furniture maker.

Tough racket.

Yeah, I hear that. I didn't know an y better at the time and actually did pretty well. Then started remodeling and never went back to it.

Leo, your stuff is amazing. That cabinet second from the top is my favorite.

Leo...what did use to finish the tops of those end tables, the yellowish ones. That's some awesome looking grain.

That cabinet is kind of neat. It holds a TV and the hinges you see on the face of the cabinet are only the first set. The second set allow the left and right stiles to swing and that way the doors can lay right against the sides of the cabinet. So the doors will swing 270º. You can see the margin space on the top and bottom of the stile so they can swing.

It is a 4 coat paint job. Primer, then the yellow, then sand through a bit, then apply a glaze over the entire cabinet leaving it heavy on the detail and then a special poly mix with the glaze to seal it in. All slow drying stuff so it took a few days to get it all applied.

The tops are made from Curly Maple. The color is a yellow dye applied pretty heavy and then sanded down. Then Another dye that had more red in it. So a slight orange tint to it. Then 3 coats of gloss lacquer.

It resembles milk pain somewhat. Lots of depth.
