Gotta take a break once in a while so today my wife, some family members, and I went and visited three wineries near us. Started out at Mimi's Cafe for breakfast and hit the first one at 11 am when they opened. Sipped wine samples, bought wine, wandered around and left for the next one.
Got to the next one, sipped more wine, bought wine and a floor mat, wandered around and left for the next one.
Got to the next one, (planned on 5 wineries), sipped more wine, bought wine and a some other gizmo, wandered around but didn't leave. Had a glass of their finest, BS'd for a while, drank more wine, decided 3 places was enough, then left for home.
What else do you do at a winery? Why market yourself, of course. I talked to the General Manager, swapped cards with her, and may get a call for some work. Other side of that is an idea I had for doing something for good clients. TAKE THEM ON A WINE TOUR! I am going to explore that option a bit more.
(Rory, PM me about this is you remember). Also, some pics of the adventure.

Grey Ghost, Unicorn, and Pearmund. Wanted to stop at Mediterranean and Marterella but ran out of juice.

My wife and I have gone on many wine trips. Yearly we go to Northern MI and southern MI we go to every other month or so mostly to pick up supplies :)
But we have done the finger lakes, NY area, northern PA, Portland, OR area and Seattle.
We are saving the napa valley trip for our 15th anniversary at least if it pans out in a few yrs.
I am also very active in the craft beer scene posting and moderating forums and review beers and locations for mags and blogs etc...

We've done several of the NY finger lake winery tours, Napa, Sonoma, and a lot of Virginia. Not so much a connoisseur as a friend of wine. Whites mostly, chardonnays in particular. New French oak, start to finish. Don't mind the lacto fermenting either.
Decoman, join our wine aficionados group. Not much happening but we are trying to play with the groups option and maybe get some activity once in a while. Or maybe you could start a beer lover's group, but I don't know about that. Get the likes of Tulsa in their and he'll never leave.

Look at the top nav bar for "community", drop down and select "Social Groups".

Mmm, that sounds like a great day. I'm an hour away from Napa, so you've reminded me I should take the trip again. For marketing purposes, of course.
