I'm in the midst of repairing plaster in this church. It'll all get painted whenever this plaster is finished.

Anyways, what is the best way to post pics in this forum? I have 100+ already, and I'm not even done patching yet. I take pictures as a matter of course, which is especially important for insurance resto. I posted a few on my personal Facebook, but they are also captioned in a dumbed-down way for that audience (my friends).

Photobucket, maybe?

Start a photobucket acct or flicker. Then you can just highlight the link and click on 'insert image'

These are free and your photos stay there as long as you want them to. You can also give clients the link to these photos.

Although I prefer to view a slide show, makes for a lot of inserting for you and lot of scrolling and clicking.
You can just give a link like this (http://www.flickr.com/photos/45031166@N03/sets/72157623659320320/show/), or you can embed it in your website.

Here is a new site (http://rcpainting.pullfolio.com/portfolios/custom-painting-in-cedar-city)I just found, it creates portfolios from flickr.

Here's a few images. I can't seem to order them or make much sense of it all, but here it is anyway:

The big windows are awesome! On the outside, they are covered with some sort of impact/small bullet resistant material. You can't see them at all. That could be common everywhere else, IDK? This place is a huge mess! Yesterday I took some demoed plaster to the dump...1000lbs (it seemed like alot, since I'm only patching). I've been on this for 8 days now. I'm shooting for completion, with new paint, by July 14th.

I had paint delivered this week:

I generally use Pittsburgh/PPG products. That is 15 gallons of latex dry-fall for the ceiling. The rest is eggshell for the walls and Seal grip synthetic primer for the stains, but I may bite the bullet and order flat for above the chair rail. The walls are a little rugged and I'm not signed on for skim-coating the whole church. I ordered 4 gals of Peel-bond for the walls where just the paint was bad. I've never used it, but we'll see how it works.

I bought this nifty spray gun pole from SW. It's made by Hyde and extends from 7-12'. Hopefully, it will perform as advertised so that I can spray the ceiling from the floor (or a 6' step). I'll let everyone know. I have an Airlessco LP540 that is new and untested...I'm gonna try a 819 tip for the ceilings. If the Airlessco is a complete failure, I have a very reliable Titan 440 that has sprayed 800+ gal w/o fail.

Do any of you guys/gals use Pittsburgh? I've found that the 6-line eggshell has excellent touch-up, and tends to have much lower sheen than comparable? PM200 eggshell.

I used PPG house paint last time.
I am not a fan...

I've never used any of the cheaper exterior paints, but the Manor Hall exterior seems to hold up. I'm pretty partial to the interior Speedhide, but I dislike the step-above Wallhide. The Manor Hall interior seems alright, but it dries just a tad to fast for me to keep up with.

What problems did you have?

Peeling and cracking.
Only used interior once,
like you said the only problem
with it was it dried too fast
for someone as slow as me.

I sprayed 2 coats of Manor Hall exterior over a coat of Perma-crete primer on this house last April:

Granted, it was Hardi, but I was out there last week and it looked real good still. I've only been on the PPG kick for a year and a half. They made an offer I couldn't refuse:2thumbsup:. I used to use SW and dabble in California Paints, but SW pricing structure was driving me up the wall.

This was @8 years ago,
on old redwood.
The worst was on pine
windows and trim.
Things change.
If there was an upside,
it was my own house....

I was remiss with additional pics. Anyway, I'm probably finished painting tommorrow, but I won't be finished, finished until my cleaning people do their thing and the carpet cleaners do their thing. I think I'll come in about $5K over the initial estimate but that's OK because it was an open invoice (difficult to give hard numbers on plaster repair).

Anyway, here's some pics of my ceiling painting setup:

*Dryfall is perfectly viable over carpet. This was a kinda-sorta experiment in that regard. I was prepared to replace the carpet, if necessary.

I ended up with the 3-high rolling scaffold setup, which was suited ideally to the situation:

http://i948.photobucket.com/albums/ad329/wvuslim/Farmington%20UM%20Church/DSCN0175.jpg

It was a bit wobbly, so I rigged some guy lines from anchors that I lagged into the floor. It probably didn't do much, but I felt better about it.

and here is where we are today. The main area and one foyer are complete. I'll finish the other foyer tomorrow and I have cleaning ladies scheduled for Sat.

I'll get some pics when everything is put back, but this photo-uploading business is somewhat tedious.

Really nice job. Clean lines, hell of a job. Plaster walls?

Thanks.

The walls were plaster applied directly over the brick and most of the ceiling was plaster and wood lathe. Wasn't the easiest repair over the brick but plaster and wood lathe=no prob. The place was built in 1914, according to the cornerstone.

I have pics of the lobbies, but they aren't very interesting. In retrospect, I wish that they would have chosen a darker color under the chair rail. It is 2 different colors, but it could have been another shade darker.

I'm taking off a few days to decompress, but I have an upcoming project that might be interesting. It is a vacation retreat that was built ~1900 from local stone and wormy chestnut. I'll get some pics whenever I get started on it.
