Anybody else having a proplem with 'new post' disappearing?

When I first enter the site I am greeted with a screen full of new, unread post. I enter a thread and when I am done I hit 'new post' again only to find that most of the new or unread post have disappeared even though I have not clicked on any of them.

I can find new post and threads if I go into different areas of the forums, but that requires a lot of effort and I really like to just hit new post to follow up on things.

That happens to me, seems like when I navigate away from RC for a bit though. Go to Quick Links and click on Todays Posts and you can see the new ones.

new posts button is spotty for

I'm sure it's a software setting somewhere.

Ok it sounds like you guys are leaving a tab or window open and the forum is getting marked as read. Try closing the RC tab or window when you move away, see if everything works like you expect.

once a user has been inactive for a certain amount of time (the value of the session timeout option (15min.)) all threads and forums are considered read. Individual threads are marked as read within a session via cookies.

There's the problem right there.

I have to take this place in small doses.

If I try to read all these posts without a break, my instinct for self preservation put's a stop to it.

I am sure it can.. Len is still working on it and seeing what all options are available.

I think that was a setting we enabled when we where having all the bandwidth and technical issues earlier on

Security, 15 minutes won't be changed.

In the future we may change the way read posts are marked, but not soon.

So the most simple solution for now is to close your tab/window when you leave. Also you can always use the 'Todays Posts (http://www.remodelcrazy.com/forum/search.php?do=getdaily)' link under Quick Links.

Len, can't you just change the "new posts" button to link to "today's posts"? It seems like it would solve all the problems.

Do you guys have the remember me option checked? I never seem to have this problem..

yeah I have it checked, I actually just changed my bookmark to the one Len posted so it's a non-issue for me now. I know JLC does it the way I suggested so I figured it would be an easy swap for Len.

For those that don't understand this. If you have a tab open and use another tab to go to another site the forum gets pissed at you. Its says that creep stood me up again so screw him all to hell. (Len programed it that way). Its a whinny little pasty faced snot nosed bitch. So close all the tabs and play nice with it or it will delete your wiener on you.
