How many of you have a blog? What is the best forum for seting on up? Wordpress, or guidespot? Do they really help generate traffic to your website? I am very interested in setting one up but would like to do it right the first time- if possible.
Thank you

But ya gotta install content that people will read.

If you already have a website/domain name installing blogging software (Wordpress) on your domain is the best situation.
This will pass the SEO ranking to other pages in your website and increase traffic to your domain, which is likely what your after. If you link back to your domain from an outside blog it will pass some SEO, but not as good as self hosting it.
If you just want to write and get your name out there more personally then it isn't so important.
I'm close to launching a new project. Anybody who is interested in a blog/website PM me for details. I need a few beta testers soon.

12% of my traffic in the last month to the main site was generated from my blog

And you have one of the best blogs out there. Just the info on RRP is a goldmine. I'd imagine most of it is from trades not customers??

Blog traffic - about 70% trades, 30 Homeowners - so much for the Homeowners Resource Center
Web site, except for the Paul trying to mimic mine (ok maybe it was really Len working on the layout)... most of the traffic is local - now as for how much is trades or HO, I am not really sure but 1/2 my customers I talk to mention it

It is actually a sub-domain --- blog.SLS-Construction.com (I have direct links to it & a list on the right of the latest articles)

You have great blog. I've been in it before and liked how faithful you are at writing and commenting back! I bet it will only get better! Nice job.
