I am planning on starting a site to help homeowners find qualified RRP contractors in their area. It will be a free sign up and you can be searched locally. It will also feature plain language for the rules that homeowners can understand. Anyone have any ideas or features we could add?

There are actually several of them out there now.. We plan to start one ourselves..

The key would be to gather enough useful information and contractors to make it worth reading..

Just having a contractor database to me is not enough to make it worthwhile, I think it almost has to be like a blog with information and updates as well as contractor information..

Getting it indexed and ranked will be a big key as well.

Just scrape every RRP post from SLS's blog...you'll sound like the authority on the subject :)

PS - this was not sarcasm. I am complimenting SLS's coverage of RRP!

Well, I plan on Seoing the hell out of it,,,and making the information easy for the random homeowner to read and understand. And blog like a crazy person!

SLS does have the market down on this info! I want to get him involved.
The site I was sent to leads you to the epa's site. I want a site that features businesses as individuals.

I am sure you well, I have seen your tweets, posts on linkedin etc..

You do a very good job of engaging the audience and that is a very big step..

Also my post was not to persuade not to move forward only to point out some hurdles along the way..

I plan on making it personal, so you are "introduced" to your RRP contractor before you hire...

Any suggestions on what we should include on the site? I don't want to link it to the epa and all their legal stuff. I want to engage the contractors to explain why they chose to be lead safe.

Well, let me ask you how you plan on monetizing it? Because that would impact the types of things you should focus on.

If it's primarily going to be paid through ad revenues, than you'll need lot's of good content for the HOs. If it's primarily monetized by charging contractors to be listed, then the focus would be more towards the benefits for the contractor to be listed.

Well, actually, my monetizing is of little concern, however, I have my web team ready to design sites to help optimized the people who are RRP and don't have a web presence

Also, I have some adverts set up for the contractor end of it for the contractors who are freshly signed up to RRP and don't have the Hepa vacs

I like you Holly!

Now as far as an RRP site, there are some questions.

My experience is no one cares much about this on the HO end.
I am approaching this cautiously.

Having said that I will support you, lets see where you go with this and then lets talk, as in on the phone.

Feel free to call me or shoot me an email

I do have to agree with Paul to some extent - most HO's don't care & probably never will in plenty of area's of the country. On the flip side, your heavily regulated, we like to remain scared area's of the country will seemingly care a great deal until they see the actual cost... that's when you see who really believes it & who doesn't

WTG Holly, This will be interesting to watch. Not that I am involved in RRP but from the marketing aspect of it.

Hey KK, the link to the vid on your OSC site is broken.

Make the list searchable by the type of work the contractor does. If a homeowner is interested in finding a CF ... they would also be interested in finding one that is doing the type of work the HO is looking for.

Link to contractor's website. If contractor doesn't have one, that is where you can help (by creating one)

That is a great idea! I will do that in the site.
I even purchased a .mobi site so contractors can check out their status on the go.

I plan on getting my "team" some work out of this by creating websites for contractors that don't have one. My team by the way it 30proof.com
I am their marketing specialist.
