I'm sure this has been brought up before; in fact, Alex (splinter) poached me from John Bridge to be another tile guy here at remodel crazy. I know
tile is just a small portion within the remodeling parenthesis but it seems like a worthwhile specific trade to hi lite here. In remodel, the challenges are almost always greater than new construction, and that is true with tile as well.
Just curious why this category doesn't exist already??
I've been a general contractor/bathroom remodeler, but my specialty is
tile and stone -- 25 years now -- It just seems folks like me would be more use around here addressing tile and stone specific questions and thoughts.
Does this exist already?? Where would that be??
thx

I would like to see a lot more tile info here.

But can I add, tile is just not for the floor. It seems to always end up in the flooring section. If that happens, I cannot talk about backsplashes...

showers, steamers, art, wainscot, mosaic, mudwork, membranes, sealers
mortars, best methods etc. . . .
. . . on and on, as a remodeler of period bathrooms, I am certain a specific category for tile and stone would serve this community well.

POST POST POST!
We are not big enough to create forums for every title under the sun.
If you don't see a specific area, post it in a general area. When we feel there is enough content and interest already happening, we will break those off in the future.
We won't add 1000 forums just to hold 3 threads each.
Post all your stuff and we will break off sections as needed.
We have:
Construction Industry Talk (http://www.remodelcrazy.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=36)
Interior Renovations (http://www.remodelcrazy.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=29)
Contractor Discussions (http://www.remodelcrazy.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=5)

I agree, Leo and I do cabinet refacing, there just aren't enough people for a refacing area.
Tile is interesting and I have posted tile questions.
Maybe when we grow bigger, I sure have no problem with trying a tile area.
Maybe tile/ stone work.

One more thought, doing it this way we can keep everybody in the conversations, rather than people just coming here to check in on a particular forum area.
No segregation we are all remodelers!

I'm gonna throw another vote in the hat for a tile area. We've got more than enough past threads on tile that could be pulled in...
And after all, "If you build it, they will come." :laugh3:

OK so it's on the wish list. However, I don't really agree with the catch-all thread concept. I've been trying to get more tile guys to the other site. But it's still the same few that pop in every now and then. Problem is, there's already a huge tile-only site out there. There is so little tile discussion here that trying to keep regular visitors from the tile trade is too difficult. There are just not enough discussions.
By having dedicated sections, RC regulars can, indeed, visit them. However, the occasional visitor would be able to focus in on the section of choice and drop their knowledge.
I don't think people always want to sift through posts that don't apply to them. I know nothing about refacing and would not likely read that kind of post.
I understand between the "new posts" and "search" functions, a person should be able to find something interesting. But in this age of instant results, you know people don't always use them. Just sayin.

I think we should have a "grout" section. ;)

Well I know Angus would be good for at least a dozen threads on Urethane grout right there. :laugh3:

I agree with Angus completely.
I recall one instance where I posted a question about exterior tile assemblies and got only a few responses and then the thread died.
My guess is that Angus, Splinter and others who might have had something to say probably never even saw the thread because it's just "in the shuffle".

Ahhh, tile sucks. All the rage now is those fancy peel 'n sticks from the depot.
