Ok who loves to go camping..
I use to be a camping nut but my wife hated it.. I finally got her into it about 2 years ago and now she loves it..
We only been twice this year and will probably plan one soon before winter sets in..
Probably go somewhere close like up to one of the Maryland camp grounds and spend the weekend.
What's you favorite places to camp?

We go to a place called Hermit Island in Maine.
Ocean front campsites, 7 private beaches, hiking trails.....paradise.
Now that the boys are older we'll start camping on the islands in Lake George NY, too.
Might also try camping on St John too but not sure I want to drag all the crap that far.

How do you camp? We do tent/campfire meals aare cooked and prepared on site. Zero phones or electronics.
Many like Naptown for example will park their RV in a lot next to a lake and call that camping.
My favorite place to camp is in a field in Ft. Worth Texas for the 5 day Nascar event twice a year......with the 300,000 other campers.

I use to love camping and a good afternoon canoe trip. I no longer enjoy sleeping in a tent and I really enjoy a morning shower. I suppose if we owned a camper trailer, camping would be more inviting.

Tents, firepit, cooked meals etc.. I never got the idea of camping in an RV that to me defeats the purpose.. When I go camping I got to shit in the woods..

I camped on my friend's land up in Kern County a while back. I could get used to just living in a tent and cooking outdoors. If I had acreage, I think I would have a permanent cam site set up.

Rory's neighbors are probably pretty happy to see him go...much easier to keep their lawns clean.

We have a 6 person REI tent, cook outside, white gas lantern etc.
The wife likes a shower and a thicker sleeping pad but the boys and I go feral.
Sea/lake water is close enough to a shower for me.
We do cook some bad-ass meals though.
We're looking for some land on the maine coast right now.
Something we can build on eventually but we'd be happy camping or dragging an airstream in for the near future.
The boys need a place to get their redneck on.

Give me a small cabin in the woods. Some place I would like to live one day if I can get my city boy husband to agree.
When I wake in the morning, I want to hear the sound of nothing and watch the elk feed off the land.

That's pretty much what I do on vacation every year (Maine)
as long as it has WIFI and a good phone signal, dishwasher, king size bed, big screen TV, dock for boat, and a close by liquor store I'm good. I need to simplify my life. Oh and I forgot at least 2 full baths and 2100 square feet with private office space to get away from everyone

Hiking 6 hours into a lake with a weeks worth of provisions on your back. No beer on this trip, only 151 and Tang.
No tent just a ground sheet, tarp and sleeping bag.
Catch and/or forage a lot of meals.
Haven't gone in a few years, the wife and kids likes their showers and toilets.

You have to respect a man that can compress alcohol content into the smallest package possible.
If we could only figure a way to freeze dry it.

I never really got it, whenever I went camping I always thought to myself "Why am I practicing to be homeless?" But if you find a good spot it can be lots of fun. There are lots of spots on the Oregon coast that are great for camping.

Haven't been camping in a long time. The single best part about it is the reconnection with nature. That and cold nights and campfires.. hotdogs cooked on sharpened sticks :) SMORES! Hell yeah camping rocks.
If at the lake you have to be able to get out in the water and do some skiing or kneeboarding or something though.

I like camping with friends in small doses: Drive out in the middle of nowhere, set up tents, build fire, drink beer, bullshit, etc.
Next day: Clean up, go home. (maybe 2 days)

I used to go camping all the time... We'd throw a sleeping bag, tent, and small backpack on the back of the motorcycles, and the beer went into the saddlebags. We'd ride until we found a campground somewhere. Usually wound up in Pennsylvania or Connecticut, but one year we went from NY to New Orleans and back... That was a fun ride...

We use to have fun camping, then the wife ruined it. She got serious about it. It use to be once a year for about 3 days. Then it turned into twice a year for 4 or 5 days. It was great for her and the kids. For me it sucked. I always had work to do and needed to take all the tools out of the truck, pack all the camping stuff, drag it down to the campsite, unpack and setup. Stay the weekend, go home, put all my crap back in the truck work for the week then unpack all my tools, go back down for the day, have breakfast the next morning, pack everything back up drag it home, unpack it, then put all my stuff back in the truck.
Gee, sound like fun to you?

I had my fill of camping when I was in the army.
I still like doing outdoor activities, but want to go home when I'm finished. That way it's fun for me & not a bunch of work as Leo said.

I liked it better when we would get there on Thursday night and pack up on Sunday morning. I could go, I could enjoy it. Yes, it was short, but I could plan around short. I can't plan around a week. Well, except for my annual vacation. That has been written into my contracts when I think it might interfere with my work schedule.

We went camping twice this year. 1st time in almost 3 years and it was a lot of fun.
The wife has had some back problems over the last few years and it sort of halted any type of tenting. This year we bought a used camper and it was nice to have a bed to crawl into at the end of the night.
I know a lot of guys don't consider this "real camping" but we didn't exactly sit around in the thing all day. We spent the day light hours hiking, fishing, swimming, and taking trips on the water with the canoe and kayak. At night, I'd fire up the fire and cook out and then get the camp fire roaring.
We truly enjoyed ourselves! Can't wait to do it again next year.

Only been once, but it was for six weeks in Africa. Slept on a 1'' foam mat the whole time. Five years ago but I still think of that trip often.
Ps. The only thing worse than going in the woods is waking up and realizing that you went on the trail:grin:
