I got invited to participate in a first run, end-user training program for Festool Usa.

They sent out an ad on the forum they own, with a quick survey/application to fill out.

They only picked 10 people so I feel kind of lucky.

Should be fun, I get to play in Festool's own shop for 2 days, learning some of the in's and out's of their system.

Close to home as well. Their Usa headquarters is in Lebanon Indiana.

Hey Chris, I'm gonna have to sleep in your driveway!!

I'm hoping to learn alot. I am going to be a sponge.

I think there is way more things I can make/do with their tools that I have.

I am really excited about learning some things I can do with my MFT/3.

Also excited about meeting the CEO of Festool USA. They are all super nice people. I will see if I can get my camera in there!!

I really wanted a big huge wood workers bench but, this fits the bill and I can take it with me.

Maybe I am going down for a sales pitch, I want to get all tooled up from them for free!!! (Never going to happen)

Gary Katz will be there too. I would try to hang close to him when possible. I learned a lot form him at about a 10:1 ratio of time well spent.

I read everything I can get that Katz writes. His Doorhanger's Bible or whatever it was saved my ass on a Dutch door hang I had to do once.

They gotta give you some kind of freebie. What happens if you accidentally cut youself? Lifetime supply of saw blades.

Sounds like a mighty fine way to spend a couple of days.

Now if only Glock had a program like this....

Take some pics of their "secret lab" while you're there... :laugh3:

I'm thinking it's going to be Willy Wonka meets Home Improvement.

Watch out for the Oompa-Loompas...

I asked and they said camera's were ok.

I want to take some pictures of some of the set-ups they have.

I would say that Festool is basically a portable cabinet/mill shop. Especially with some of the new tools thay have coming out next year.

From Posts on another site these are all very valid points.
I would suggest a few flash bangs and some smoke grenades and a large truck waiting outside. Have another festool junkie as a get away driver.

I can't lie, the thought crossed my mind.

Chris, you got access to a box truck?

It might seem odd if I showed up with an empty 20' enclosed trailer huh?

I wanted too Jason but, the Mrs. is about to burst (3 weeks) and I am trying to not upset the lioness.
Maybe a Kapex will be the parting gift from Festool. We both know that is not true but, those dreams have been getting me through!

Chris-
Monday and Tuesday.

Bodger-
Got the camera all charged up.
They pretty much said no to video recording, my camera will take like 45 seconds though.

I was also told there are some 'classified' sections we would not be allowed to take pictures in. Hmmmmm, maybe I will pretend to be talking on my phone and give you guys instant updates!!

I am going to put a few things together later tonight or tomarrow.

I will be brief for now.

I have never been treated better by a company in my life, than I was for the last 2 days.
We were hanging out with the CEO of Festool usa, the top trainer, r&d guy, and marketing rep. All employees went out of their way to make sure we had all that we needed. Even the warehouse guys.

They even grilled out for us after the first day. Provided breakfast and lunch both days.
Drinks and snacks all day long.

Got some cool free stuff, and I also got to do a little exploring in the warehouse after hours with the CEO and R&D guy.

What a great group of people.

I think the main misconception of their tools is that they are made just for shop use.
That is not the case.
They tout them as cabinet shop in a box. You can travel with a tool that performs like big stationary equipment.

Right from the first page of their cataloge:

"Our tools are designed to solve problems, and they are engineered to exacting tolerances. We manufacture our tools with high-quality materials to withstand the abuse of the jobsite, so that you can remain productive."

When I was there, they were most excited about me an another guy that travle with their tools and use them out on site. They all ready know the tools will last for a lifetime in a woodworking/hobbiest environment. They thing that gets them excited is people using them day in and day out on the actuall job site.

Precise, yet rugged and durable.
