The California Department of Health Services has documented more than 1,500 tests of Mexican candy since 1993 - and one in four of those results has come up high for lead.

I showed the pictures of the candies to my kids at school today, they all pointed to ones that they had at home!

This is not new news to me. But what amazes me is that our Gov't will set forth regulations that hinder the American business man, yet allows foreign companies to flood the American place with poison via their tainted candy, toys, jewelry, etc...

The question is are these foreign companies or simply US companies that took advantage of NAFTA and sent their manufacturing over the border?
If that's the case then it comes down to who has a bigger lobbying force in DC? That's why IMO that the RRP rule has fallen on us and not on homeowners where it belongs. If they had the burden, oh how the real estate industry would suffer :censored:

You do have a point there.

Not to mention thousands of illegals driving prices to crap in the construction business and ignoring RRP.
And why doesn't the government go after the folk who put the damned lead into the paint to begin with. make them pay for the Visqueen and tape and crap.

If.....IF......American consumers would get their cheap-ass heads out of their rear ends and STOP BUYING PRODUCTS FROM MANUFACTURERS THAT SELL CHINESE MADE ITEMS, perhaps companies would think twice about selling China made crap.
I do not buy things made in China. Yes, I have some things that were before my self-imposed boycott. But I routinely go through my household items and toss things hecho en china.
Don't tell me it can't work. Just look at the makers of high fructose corn syrup. Their crappy products sales are so dismal, they're actually changing the name to corn sugar to try and boost sales.
I know Bodger may be sneering at me with an "I told you so" and I agree. China is slowly screwing with the US consumer. Not only are we buying this cheaply made, poorly regulated and sometimes flat out dangerous crap, but we are also loading up our landfills with this junk too. Have you ever seen all the "packaging" on something like a gas grill made in China? I'd say more than half the material in the box (not by weight) is simply thrown out. Heck and even after you load your garbage can with all the packing material, chances are you're throwing out the rusty, falling apart grill in 2 years anyway. But don't worry, go can go to your local wally world and buy a new china grill for $59. :rolleyes3:
The US manufacturers wouldn't be selling it if the US consumer wasn't buying it.
