I bought a Sony Bloggie MHS-CM5 video recorder. I like to edit my videos in Windows Movie Maker, and save/view them as a Windows Media Player files.

It looks like I need to convert the videos before I can edit or view on these Windows programs/players.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a converter?

Preferably free software.

Thanks, I'm downloading it now. I hate it when I get a new toy and I have to deal with all this technology.

I'm much better at detail stripping firearms.

Freakin' maddening.

Now the computer won't "recognize the USB device".

I need a full time geek over here. Shoulda stuck with my Flip video.

Restart your computer with the device plugged in.

And can they make these controls any smaller?? I'm using the toothpick from my Swiss Army Knife to operate this POS.

strip off some 12/2 wire and stick the ends in outlet and the other end coil it around the device then plug it into the computer.

Tried that...... Is it supposed to smoke when plug it in?

bastid.

The problem is I am an impatient dumb-ass. Turns out, the supporting software that comes with the video camera includes a conversion feature. Found that out after I went on the web site Chris posted and paid $39 for a conversion program.

I'll contest the Visa charge and claim I could never get it to run right. :mad2:

It's all good now! It works great! I highly recommend Sony Bloggie.
