Don't listen to Bender he is smoking some funny crap Modern gave him. I have a Bold and love it. You can down load up to 3 or 4 different email accounts to it.

If you haven't already check out www.blackberry.com and sign up to their user board. Then there is www.crackberry.com that has a pile of good info on these things.

Have fun and don't wear out the skin on your thumbs typing too fast.

Oh ya when the playbook comes out you will be able to tether it to your black berry via wifi and or blu tooth. Can't do that with an android or a I Puke.

I have the curve and love. I recommend getting a case to put it in. I got one made by body glove that is a hard case. I had my first curve for just under a year without a case and some of the buttons stopped working. Have had my second one for about 10 months now with the case and the phone is still like new when I take it out of the case. Now the case, thats another story, it's beat to hell but I can replace that for $20.

Sign up for Remember the Milk for your daily to-do list, I recently signed up and love it. Makes my BB that much more valuable with the automatic syncing. I also recommend the gmail for syncing purposes too. Just seems to work a lot better for me than Microsoft Outlook.

Not true, almost all Android devices have a mobile hotspot built in. The ones that don't, simply download and app from the Android market or independant market.

And the iPhone, well AT&T doesn't' want you to do that with any of there phones (against there policy) but you can jailbreak the iPhone and add a third party app as well.

I recently switched from Blackberry to Android. I love the more flexibility I have with the Android but I still miss a few things about blackberry. In particular the phone ring/notification profiles.

Do you all Canadians get free Blackberrys' along with your health care? or just the residents of Ontario? and how long do you have to wait for them ;)

Um no and our health care is not free we pay for in through our taxes. Stop hijacking the thread ok?

We can get free bb's if we choose a longer term contract. You guys should too. Usually they are $199 to $299 depending on the contract.

Here are some Apps I liked on the Blackberry.

Google Sync
Google Maps
UberTwitter
Viigo

And you might want to try Tapatalk, forum reader for Remodel Crazy forum. It was in Beta and not very good on the Blackberry when I had it, but it's been updated since.

Install the Blackberry desktop manager (http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/) also. Even if you don't think you will use it, it's good for updating and backing up your Blackberry.

I found that the browser was a lot faster with the last down load. It also put some more icons in the home page. One for finding new applications and one for games. That browser is still not as fast as I would like but it is a good improvement on it.

Blackberry is dead and will be irrelevant in 2-3 years.

Its old technology that has not kept up with tech changes.. It was once the king of the hill, but they did not keep their eye on the prize.

MS, Apple and Android are the new it boys and BB does not stand a chance against them

Glad ya think so. I'm on my bold right now. I will post a link to a ipad and playbook comparrison when I can. I'm at a theater right now. We will see what you think after you see that. RIM is still an industry leader and anyone that says they are not is blinded by hoopla and misinformation. They are already working on thing that will blow the competition out of the water.

I have seen it.. Hype at its best..

Market share and apps are what consumer and business users care about..

Blackberry does not have either of those.. In a few months the new Ipad and Google's new Table os will be introduced and it will be bye bye Blackberry.

I've had both a blackberry and an I phone. currently and Iphone. The Iphone blows away anything I had on the bb hands down.

Greg from K/W
November 20th, 2010, 10:35 PM
Look at these. Do you Honestly think Rim will not use the tech they created to improve current models or bring out new ones with the same abilities? Give me a break. You are comparing companies the went after consumers with consumer only product with a company that developed a tool for business environments only. No other phone has the encryption that makes it as safe for a company to deal with email behind their own fire walls. So please quite the BB is going to die garbage and compare apples to apples.

Here are some comparisons of product. You will see Rim is the one kicking ass in the tablet areas.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s72rGDUn2uo

This one is comparing Iphone BB Torch and another one. Cant remember which. Its from Crackberry.com so they are fair with what they say. Watch this one.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iLvQpXapIrY

Here is another one from another site.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5z68o1a5zlc&feature=related

So yes I know some guys will prefer a BB others like android others like an old dial rotary phone. So if you really want to do a fair comparison and quit the mud slinging lets talk. Other wise lets forget it. I know some like to get a rise out of me by throwing mud at my fav company but hey have fun I don't care. Just use facts instead of propaganda ok guys.

One problem though Greg the Playbook doesn't exist yet.
Not out until maybe March and by then the bar will be raised by Apple, Microsoft and the Android devices, great idea and product but they just don't have the fire power to compete with the big three.

Greg from K/W
November 21st, 2010, 06:34 PM
Well every company has leaps. Rim is coming out with things that will take the lead then another company will do the same. It is stupid and unfair for anyone to say that any company will die because of what another one does. Its ridiculous. RIM has its market Iphone has its and android has its market. Each camp has its loyalists. I hardly see anyone pissing on the android devices or the Iphone or Ipad like some of you guys piss on the bb. So why is it that when someone posts they love their bb everyone get on a band wagon and tries to beat the shit out of it? Its not needed is it? I don't think it is.

So unless someone pisses on your device outside of friendly teasing how about keeping it to that. Saying one company is going to kill another is short sighted and ignorant. Nothing of the sort can or will happen. Each of these companies have built a position that no other can dominate. So each are safe. Market share may push and pull up to 10 percent but that will be it.

While Blackberries are still good, useful devices you can't deny they are loosing ground in the US.

This quote pretty much sums it up for my experience with blackberry, the iPhone and Android.
Android phones and the iPhone 4 have a wider variety of user-friendly applications, making them more attractive than the BlackBerry

Here are some recent stats.
Its maker, Research in Motion Inc., took a double hit: In terms of market share, Google Inc.'s Android operating system overtook that of RIM's, according to new reports on U.S. sales. And Apple Inc.'s iPhone surpassed RIM's corporate stalwart, the BlackBerry Curve 8500, as the nation's bestselling handset.

The Android operating system, which runs on nearly 100 devices, was in 44% of the smart phones sold during the third quarter, according to market research firm NPD Group. Apple's iOS was well behind, at 23%. And RIM's operating system was in 22% of handsets sold, down from 28% the previous quarter.

Yep, Gmail does have probably the best spam filter out there.

But short of changing or configuring a gmail account to get your mail:

You can check/change your spam filter settings with your email provider. Sounds like you have the spam filters turned off.
