Enforcement officers from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have been touring job sites in our area and checking to make sure companies working on homes built prior to 1978 are properly certified. Contractors caught working without the proper EPA certification face a stiff fine of $37,500 per day.

This appears to be in a blogger/comment area... and is attributed to a builders assoc. representative.

I looked at a remodel yesterday and the homeowner brought it up to me first..

She is a government contractor and 2 of their projects got site visits.

According to her there out there looking and enforcing. Told me to make sure to include any and all RRP procedures in her bid..

I was really shocked that she knew so much about the rule and procedures.

I am sure being in commercial construction made her aware of it, but I was still surprised anyone took it seriously at this point.

She was even more shocked that we where certified.

We had two site visits since Oct.
Both were a quick look (never got out of their suv) and cert check.

I get daily EPA enforcement updates for my region emailed to me. (you can sign up for this on EPA site)
There has yet to be any mention of RRP in the updates.
