Alot of talk here lately about finding a designer to garner more work for your business. This can prove to be a tad difficult.
I stumbled into a designer switcharoo last spring and it has been the best thing ever for me. Let me explain.
I was telling Kevin about a company here that is a highend flooring and hard surface retailer that you have to be a member of to shop there. Home builders love these type of places because their client can go in there and spend 2 hours with their designers and not have to be involved in the time consuming process of color and product selection.
Anyway I joined this retailer's little club and started sending clients to them. They have a top notch showroom with all the latest and greatest stuff displayed and employ about 6 designers.
They get ahold of these people and something happens to the customer. I don't know what it is about the experience but every time I send a client in they go way over allowances. Which is ofcourse fine with me.
Now I have done a switcharoo. I am able to get prospective clients in there before submitting a bid. This has been a 100% closing rate for me since last spring. Its a combination of a tremendous showroom, a one stop shop experience, and an awesome team of designers that don't let these people out the door without closing them. This place has even called me to tell me that I got the job, and I hadn't even bid it yet. I don't have to tell you what that means.
Anyway, thought I would share an experience that some may already be experiencing and others maybe not. Its about patnering with a team that has an equal motivation to sell your client that costs you zero.
