Darren is that the same bar that used to be your profile pic. If so, oh my god, what a difference a pro photographer makes and that is not to diminish what I thought of the bar from that pic.

It is the same, and I agree. The homeowner emailed me the pics. He got them from the designer, who had a photoshoot done for a local magazine. I'm trying to track down the photographer, for future projects.

The red material is a product called 3form. Recycled red glass in acrylic sheets. It is backlit with LED tape light washing the wall behind the acrylic, and the light at the base spills out from that.
It was a great project, for some great clients.

Want me to post larger? I was worried about burning bandwidth.

yes. Basement was finished when house was built 5 -6 yrs prior. We gutted it and started over.

I reduced resolution before I uploaded to photobucket, then reduced again to post here. Would that account for some of it?
In a matter of weeks you and ChrisW will be dissecting all our pics with your noses in the air......;)

No, I believe that the photographer did it on purpose. It is a technique used often in room pictures. That is why I said soft, and not out of focus. You show a picture to me and tell me a pro took it that means dissect it :laugh3:

I was wondering why you didn't use that bar for your sign that you posted up about.
Keep in mind there may be restrictions on you using those photos depending on what type of agreement the HO's had with the photographer or between the magazine and photographer.

While a very cool project, I felt it would maybe limit my appeal to more traditional clients. Contemporary work like that is a very small percentage of what I do.
Plus, I didn't do the whole basement, just the bar and built ins. I also didn't want to step on the other remodelers toes. He sends me 50-60k a year.

Just to reiterate what Orson said:
The photographer normally retains the copyright to the photographs and licenses the usage rights.
In order to use these you will probably have to negotiate with the photographer.

Is there any way that you could post a photo that you took along with the 'pro' shot?
My daughter is a young professional photographer,I want to show her that there is a need for architectural photography.
And more than that----lessons in lighting and technique for us remodeling types, that need pictures ---and will not hire a pro very often.
