Ok the plan is to move the server next week probably Sunday and Monday.

The site will be down for up to 48 hours during the process.

Len has the technology and we will rebuild it, bigger, stronger, faster

Yep Guilty as charged.

We are on G'daddy and the server is shared by others. This one will be our own.

So hopefully it will resolve the issues we have been having and allow Len to make changes as needed.

I hope it helps with posting issues. I just spent a while responding to one of Jasons threads and when I hit submit I got a busy notice and lost all my info.--again.

I have learned from that happening quite a few times on any of the forums I frequent. After a few sentences I copy it to the clipboard and if it is longer than that I copy and paste it to Word.

I have not been having these problems.
When that does happen my page will be slow to load and I copy my text so I can repost it if needed.

It happened to me for the first time tonight. Oh well, I'll be pasting it into notepad from now on.

Try doing a Preview Post first instead of just Posting.

It also gives you the opportunity for your spell check review.

Actually Ed I'll just highlight and copy it. Then if I need it I can copy it wherever I want.

Its really good to see this happening to all you guys and gals. :mad2:

I have lost a lot of my own posts many times, not here, because I have learned. It is just as easy to keep a work processor open and write it in there and then copy and post, just the long stuff though. The short stuff I don't worry to much. And a lot of times if you hit the back key it will show up again, but not always

Right now I am having problems with any kinf of posting here using AOL, IE is fine. AOL shows an error page. And my New Post button isn't working again on AOL, IE is fine.

It's hard for me to remember to do either of those, until it happens again. So far, not on this site for me though.

The click back has saved my but a few times on other sites though, when my router at home times out every 2 hours.....I think my wifey set it up that way on purpose to get me off in at least one way. :mad2:

Off of the computer, that is.....

I haven't experienced any of these problems yet. I did have log in prob's today around 2pm-couldn't get on here at all and I thought that may have been the new server change.

I also noticed youtube videos pop up in a different screen now for me.

Hey Leo, and any other AOL users.

Please don't use AOL.
AOL has it's own set of issues. That mostly revolve around proxy servers to keep you in 'AOL's internet version' (to serve you ads and track your habits). Using a different browser will get around most of this, but they used to still have 'caching issues'. Meaning you may not me seeing real time updates, only the version AOL cached of a page (it saves them money). I haven't read lately how much of this they are still doing but I know it's still and issue for web developers. Thankfully (for us web guys) they are spiraling downward fast (http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-10229815-93.html).

Opening IE after you are connected is fine. If you haven't upgraded to IE8 (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx) yet it has big performance gains as well as security and of course it free.

I only have on and off problems, usually when you say you are having server issues. Most of the time it works fine. If it doesn't I just use IE.

When I am playing around with my website I can't use AOL because, like you said, it doesn't update quick enough. Even if you push reload. I like it because that is where I have my email and I usually get instant responses from my forums so it is easy for me to copy and paste the site into the browser line.

I use google for e mail
I get responses to PM's on the blackberry at the same time they are appearing on the screen.

Aside from losing a particularly long post the time to post a reply is taking forever. Once I push submit it takes about 30 seconds for it to submit.

Because we currently share a server with 4k other sites. If all the sites have activity it will slow down the response time dramatically. When Len gets up moved to our on server, that should not be an issue anymore.

The huge monitors!!

It's facinating to me how the technology has changed in just a few short years. I have junior high kids and they think email is for old people. They text and tweet. They all have phones and are allowed to have them on during class. The kid can google an answer faster than the teacher spit it out.

Regarding kids and technology, about 5 years ago, we hosted our Family Christmas Party and I was responsible for selecting the grab bag gifts for all of the kids and teenagers.

So, I found a Great deal on an off-brand Sony Walkman CD players. When I handed them out, it was like, Oh, I already have an iPod or whatever else those music download devices are called. So, I picked up around of them for a little less than $20.00 each.

Geez, I thought that I had done a really good job of keeping in tune with something kids of that age would have jumped up for joy to have. It wasn't that they were unappreciative of the gifts, but it just didn't impress them like they did for me.

I didn't realize I was even that far behind the times. What a realization of my own obscurity that moment was.

I know! As I have said before, my other job is teaching technology to kids.
I saw a report that 80% of the jobs our children will have are not even created yet!
Things are changing fast!

A lot kids today are exposed to a lot and want things handed down to them. My kids do not get to watch much tv, they get computer time on the kid computer where they get to play games and such that is not connected online. Of course my three kids are young, the oldest is 8 and I know other 8yr olds get a lot more exposure to digital media than mine do.
On that note though I had my older 4th generation ipod that had been collecting dust in my closet for a couple years. I put a new skin on it and gave it to my oldest daughter on her 8th birthday. She loves that thing so much. It really is convienent for her.
