OK, for RRP, holding poly for general dust containment, what tape do you guys use? The blue tape sucks. Tyvek tape sticks but not to everything that well, regular brown type masking tape like Tuck can leave glue residue if left on too long. I have also found that some poly rolls seem to have talc in the roll to keep it from sticking to itself. Tape won't stick. What's that red tape Mike Holmes uses?

I've been using zipwall foam rails for sealing poly to the ceiling. Blue tape to walls and floors. And tyvek tape for any seams in the poly. Lots of times i have to re-tape when the blue stuff lets go, but everything else I've tried either wrecks the finish, or leaves residue.

I've had a couple of rolls with the talc stuff on them, but the ones from my normal supplier don't.

Yep. Blue tape sucks for holding heavy plastic. Frog tape is a little better.

Sometimes I will apply the blue tape to the wall then apply regular masking tape on top of that to hold my paper/plastic in place. That seems to help.

Thumb tacks come in handy. Seriously. I can not afford to have a protective cover come down onto a fresh coat of finish, so after taping everything off I will place thumb tacks in inconspicuous areas to help guarantee that plastic doesn't come down.

stick blue tape on the wall and use duct tape to stick the plastic to the blue tape. It works like a charm. The first time I saw it was when I did a very short stint in mold remediation.

The red tape "Mike" uses is Tuck Tape. I've never tried it but I've thought about it.

I don't care if you can hold a broken house together with duct tape; I would never use it on walls. The blue tape is the problem as it is selective about which walls it will stick to, and stay stuck. Biggest problem is that it tends to peel off and you end up with 6 pieces overlapping each other. I don't know if the EPA 'recommends' anything more than just 'tape'. There has got to be a good tape for this stuff out there.

If it's stuck to the wall alone and the duct tape stuck over the center of it 2 1/2" blue actually does a decent job. When it's half on the wall and half on the plastic it does a really crappy job. I do it all the time, no worries if you don't believe me though. I know it works.
