I've been tasked with finding a value of this pile of wood. It's about 20 3x12x16' full dimensional boards. I'd like to mill them to restore window sashes, siding, etc. I've had 2 offers for it, one for a hundred and another for 200.
If you were to guess what the value would be before and after milling what would you say?

That is 960 BF. New growth VG Fir isn't cheap. at my retail place it is 10.55BF for a 8/4 x 10"
So, unless this stuff is in really crappy condition then it is worth way more than $200. Way more.

Thanks b, so I'm looking at roughly $4800 retail as is.

I knew it was worth more but I wasn't even close. I was thinking a grand.

Like I said, you have to mill it and see what it really looks like. If it is full of stress checks and has no structural value then it might be worth less. But if it planes out clean it is a gold mine.

I'd say way more too. It may look like a pile of dirty old boards now, but after milling that will turn into some really nice looking wood, worth a nice pile of $
