Did you ever do projects like Roy Underhill on the Woodwright show.

I watched him use this one day. http://www.pbs.org/woodwrightsshop/tools/Lathe_spring_pole.html

That's a lot of work he does right there. He sweats his azz off. But no, not in a long time. If you go over to SawMillCreek.org you will find an area called Neanderthal Haven. These guys strive to do that sort of thing.

I like my electricity.

In my earlier days I did a lot of hand planing using a smoothing plane to put the 18th century look on the surfaces of boards. Very strenuous work. We use to use pine and it wasn't that hard, we switched over to poplar because of pines rising price and it got a lot harder.

I don't offer it anymore. The people don't want to pay the premium for the work. It was a lot faster than sanding.

I should have asked did you ever, not do you. It would be kinda fun for a short while to be able to do that.

I'm with you in that I like my electricity. Hope we can continue to afford it.
