I have a deck to quote.
I want to run "piping" between the post horizontally, Similar to what you would do with a cable system.
Any suggestions? it is a roof top deck so it has to be very sturdy.

I thought they outlawed horizontal members on a railing to keep kids from climbing?

You can put any type of material up as long as it meets the 200lb/sf horizontal load and the top rail meets the 50lb uniform load or 200lb concentrated load, as long as you have the ICC Evaluation info. 4" spacing, and so on. Does DC have restrictions of building 'ladder rails'? Not sure I would like ladder rails of any material near the edge of the building.
Some jurisdictions have outlawed ladder rails but not all. As far as I know, code still allows them.

Both you guys are probably right. I will have to check on the handrails I honestly don't know if it is still allowed in DC

The ladies like me down there, I am nice to everyone down there so that's not a big deal to me.
I got a good draftsman but I don't want to call him yet.
Some one else designed it so I am going to just drop hints and give some suggestions to see what he does, I am not really pushing for this job, but this hand rail questions/design has come up before so I was interested in it.

I really got lucky.
The architect I used before I partnered with the draftman was really popular down there.
I use to tag along to learn the permitting and CD sign off process and ended up of course meeting the people involved in the process and the rest was history

The Courvossier is situated right next to the croissants, almost directly in front of the delete button. You know he eats with two fingers, don't you? Pinky sticking out, wiping the corners of his mouth. I guess its an island thang!

Yassir, I seen it first hand. I seen him wipe his mouth with a white lapkin after eating barbie chicken. Lapkin still clean. Now that is class!

FWIW, I can probably mock this up in DeckTools, if you need something to get the archy on board.
Also, saw this today @ lunch, and thought of this project.
