I need a pair of knee pads that don't slip down to my ankles every time I stand up. I just built a 400 sq. ft. deck and was on my knees for days, most of the time with no pads because the damn things kept slipping.

Is there a type that stays put?

Check out Armed work pants, the knee pads embedded in the jeans or you can pull them out..

if you get those, get the upgraded butle rubber pads, and use the styrofoam pads WITH the upgraded pads.. they are VERY nice that way. Also, if you want good knee pads look at getting some skateboard or rollerblading kneepads. They are the best bottom line. You cannot get a more comfortable kneepad than them, and they are designed to stay in place while doing things.

Rob just got a few pairs of those, I won them in the blog contest and they did not come with the knee pads so I ordered some, have not got them yet. But he really does like the pants, nicely made and fit him well.

I don't think this will work for your deck situation, but we have one of these that the guys love for doing base.

Thanks. I found some pads called Pro Knee, apparently popular with tile contractors, but the damn things are $190 a pair. Eff that.

I use a pair from harbor Freight, $3.99 a pair. They have the Velcro straps and I just fasten the bottom ones and they work well, no slippage..

Knee pads are for old guys.

No shite. I woke up this morning and when I stepped out of bed I actually heard a popping crunch in my left knee, the one I was kneeling on most when I drove all the damn screws in that deck.

I think maybe I'll get one of those soft pads. I have never been able to find a pair of knee pads that don't slip down. I even resorted to duct tape once, but it leaves an unsightly residue on your jeans.

Maybe I should wear shorts, but I never wear shorts. I hate shorts. They are not manly.

I use a gel pad. The pad itself is great, but the straps do tend to dig a little behind the knee.

I have these pads, they support shin and knee and take pressure off lower back.

They are plush and somewhat big but I used to be on them for hours at a time and never sore.

I have ones that have a hard plastic shell and are filled with gell. I can do a full drop right to my knees and don't feel a thing with my full hulking body of muscular masculinity bearing all the weight of muscles I have. Pretty good knee pads.

I've had damn near every type of pair mentioned on here and they all slip down when I stand up and I have to keep readjusting them all day.

These bastids here are the way to go, but they are like $200 a pair!

What are your knees worth to you as a one time payment.

Take a look at WurkPads. They attach to your pants. http://housefixer.info/wordpress/2011/01/03/building-a-better-mousetrap-interview-with-skan-technologies-ceo/

I've got another balau deck coming up in a few weeks. I might just have to pop for those ProKnee pads.
Like Leo said, what's $200 when you're risking blowing out your knees. I should know better than to do what I did all last week. I'm hurtin' from it.

After you cry about the $200 once you will forget about it and have your knees treat you nice.

Just how I felt after dropping $2K on my AAA spray unit. But it paid for itself the first job and has been giving ever since. Pay once and receive the benefits for life.
