View Full Version : NY Kitchen leaves the shop tomorrow

The day has come to part with another kitchen. We are driving it down to Manhattan NY for tomorrow. Because of all the extra detail in the face frames the painting took longer than I had hoped. The FFs took more time than I had expected all the way around.

Here are some pics. It is very likely that I will be able to get pictures of the installed kitchen as I have to go back with more projects that got added on. I wasn't able to get them done in time to get delivered with the kitchen and I will be leaving on vacation this Saturday (yea!)

Here are some pics.

You missed pic #4 in post 1. Those are the uppers and they are upside down on the carts, so I rotated them so they are in there correct orientation. It still looks weird with all that stuff on the ceiling :laugh3:

No install, just delivery. I don't have the licensing to do the install in the city and I don't want to have it.:smash:

What? You need a license to install cabinets in NY?

Good job, Leo. They look great.

You need a license to conduct any type of home improvement for others in downstate New York.

Yep ML Campbell Stealth in Chantilly Lace white, satin.

It is frik'n white. I think my color guy said he put 3 different drops of color in a gallon.

So Leo, how was the delivery run?

Went pretty smooth, the big upper fit in the elevator so there was no humping cabinets up 30 flights of stairs.

Got Ron some refinishing work, 7 passage doors, I don't do refinishing.

When we brought the large upper in the room I could see the expression of one of the contractors and he had the expression of terror on his face. The two guys that have been doing the work on the apartments are smaller Chinese guys.

After we brought most of the cabinets up the HO decided that he didn't want his contractors to install the cabinets and asked me to come up with a price to do it. Not going to be cheap. Everything is a pain, parking, can only work 9-5, 15th floor. The install, along with the other few tasks I have to do there will take more than one day.

What was the weather like?

When we got there, it was warm and pretty nice. By the time we left the humidity had gone up a good deal. But no inclement weather, so, nice enough.

Today's weather was near perfect, low 80's and 40% humidity and a few clouds towards the end of the day. I cleaned up most of the disaster area in the shop today. Vacation is two days away.

By the price you are quoting it sounds like I owe you for a dozen.

You ever work in a major city? It is one pain after another. No parking, limited hours, everything needs to be brought up in an elevator, everything is cramped.

Just a fun day all around.:censored:

I wasnt in a jam, homeowner just wouldnt replace the other doors.... And if I recall, you were paid fairly well for those doors, plus all the bragging rights too... I saw those pictures posted on at least 32 forums that you're a Mod at... :D

So it seems you still owe me one. :D :D

Leo it wasn't that bad, We got to see some nice sites and eye candy, worst part was carrying the doors up the ramp.

Don't bring a lunch next time.
