It seems to be an East Coast problem.
No one else noticed.

Contractor Talk Downtime - It was a bad day!

Yup, today officially sucked. I was woken up early in the morning by my server guy who just said "We got major problems". Never a good way to start the day.

Someone got into our domain name account and basically stole a few key domain names. They moved them out of our account and into their own account and then changed the nameservers that point traffic to a specific server. Long story short, we had to deal with the legal department all day at the domain registrar and prove we where who we said we were and finally got control of the domains around 4:00 CST.

We updated the nameservers back to our server and it's going to take a few hours to populate but if your seeing this now you should be set.

A couple of quick notes. They took over the domain but didn't access the server so the data is safe and there is nothing to worry about there.

Last, we have set up a system with the domain registrar to make sure this never happens again. I can't get into details for security reasons but it's pretty fool proof.

I'm sorry for the outage. Hopefully your day was better than mine

Thanks Nathan

I had it back up at about 5pm and now it's gone again. I can still access it through AOL though. Weird.
